English: Diagram depicting a ray floret structure of family Asteraceae. The ray floret is female with one pistil containing one style, two stigmas, and an ovary with one ovule. Labeled parts are as follows:
1 – corolla (petals) (three petals are joined to form a strap, and in the case of 5 petals, they form a ligule); 2 – style; 3 – two stigma lobes, shown separated (if fused, the stigma would appear as an extension of the style); 4 – reduced calyx (after seed maturity, this forms the pappi); 5 – ovary containing one ovule. |
