Description

Ashoora (ashura) reenactment in Manama , Bahrain.

Original description: Performace showing Imam Hussain standing and looking at his son Ali Al Akbar (Ali senior) after he was martyred in Karbala. Imam Hussain stood in the face of those who wanted to change everything Islam stands for and thus, although he knew he was going to be killed along with all his followers and family members, Imam Hussain chose to go out to battle to save everything Islam stands for. After Imam Hussain's followers were martyred, he did not hesitate in offering and sacrificing his son Ali Al Akbar for Islam. Ali Al Akbar was the first who went out to battle from the family members and it is said that he had a very strong resemblence to Prophet Mohammed. Imam Hussain's nephew (Qassim) was also martyred and Imam Hussain's youngest son who a newborn (Abdulla) was also martyred along with Imam Hussain's half brother Al Abbas. Imam Hussain was killed after not accepting to pledge allegience to Yazeed who was not the rightful leader. Imam Hussain is the grandson of the prophet Mohammed, the son of prophet Mohammed's daughter and Prophet Mohammed's cousin Imam Ali.
