Controversies
[edit]Chinese greeting in South Korea
[edit]On January 2, 2022, Everglow held a fan signing event in South Korea. To greet her fans, Yiren made a gesture with her hands, common and respectful in Chinese culture, in contrast to the deep bows of the other five members of the group. A video of the event was spread in the media, triggering criticism from Korean netizens, who demanded that Yiren "return to her native country". Following this, Yuehua Entertainment announced a temporary suspension of Yiren's activities with the group.[17]
