Janet Surrey, PhD, is a and clinical psychologist renowned worldwide for her contributions to relational theories of women’s psychological development. Her work spans diverse areas, including diversity, mothering, adoption, substance abuse and Buddhist dharma. Surrey has taught at institutions such as Harvard Medical School and the Barre Center for Buddhist Studies. She is also the author of several books, some of which she co-authored with her life partner Stephen Bergman (pen name Samuel Shem). Currently, she divides her time between Boston and Tierra Tranquila, Costa Rica.[1]
