Ankita Shorey, is an Indian actress, model, and beauty pageant titleholder, who was crowned the Femina Miss International 2011, and represented India at the Miss International 2011.[1] She was featured in the Canadian documentary: The World Before Her, presented by Anurag Kashyap, and was written and directed by Nisha Pahuja.[2]

Early life

Ankita Shorey, (date of birth unknown) , parent's are Arun Shorey, (an Indian army brigadier), and Neelam Shorey (an army school principal).[3]

During her childhood, she spent several years in a Buddhist monastery in Ladakh, India.[3] She later received theatre training in New Delhi, under NSD theatre's director, Rashid Ansari.

Shorey graduated with a degree in History Honours from Delhi University,[4] where she was a top student.[5]

Career

Since winning the Femina Miss India International pageant, [3][5]in 2011 Shorey has worked as a representative for brand products.

She was the first Miss India and model to be a spokesperson for the jewelry brand Gitanjali Jewelry.[6] She also represents Ticino watches and Rare Heritage, a bridal store.[7]

Modelling

In 2012, Ankita Shorey walked various fashion shows, including Manish Malhotra's Mijwan Sonnets in Fabric as showopener and at India International Jewellery Week with Bipasha Basu.[8][9][10][11]

She was the Brand Ambassador at Aamby Valley India Bridal Fashion Week 2012 for JJ Valaya and Tarun Tahiliani.[12][13]

In 2013, Shorey walked for Rocky S at Lakme Fashion Week, Anju Modi at Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week 2013, and Gitanjali Jewelry with Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha.[14][15][16][17]

At the 2016 French European Indian Fashion Week,[18] Shorey walked for Narendra Kumar.[19]

Hosting

Shorey hosted the Filmfare award in 2012 with Ranbir Kapoor and Shahrukh Khan.[20]

Movies

Shorey signed up for a three-film deal with Bhushan Kumar and T-Series in 2013 of different genres.[21][22] Back in 2012, she played herself in the film The World Before Her, written and directed by Nisha Pahuja.[23]

Personal life

She is a practicing Buddhist[5] and has a brother, Aman Shorey, who is also known as 'Bro Aman'.
