D.Trading is a Ukrainian energy company, subsidiary of the largest in Ukraine energy holding company DTEK.[1][2][3] It buys over 70% electricity on the Ukrainian market.[4] It is also engaged in trading energy products such as electricity, gas, gas condensate[5], and coal in the markets of 16 European countries.[6][7][8][9][10] Since December 2023, the company also specializes in the export of agricultural products.[11]

History

It originated from DTEK Trading, being covered in Bloomberg, Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Tages-Anzeiger and other media at least since 2014.[12][13][14] The company was founded in January 2019 by the DTEK holding[15] as a subsidiary for the supply of electricity, coal, and gas.[16][17] In July 2021, Vitaliy Butenko stepped down from his position as the CEO of D.Trading.[18] He was later replaced by Dmytro Malyar.[19]

In 2023, D.Trading began a phase of active international expansion and currently operates from four strategic offices in Kyiv, Amsterdam (Netherlands), Zug (Switzerland), and Zagreb (Croatia).[20] In January 2023, D.Trading started importing electricity from Europe to reduce the deficit in Ukraine's energy system, achieving a base capacity supply of 290 MW. During this period, the company accounted for approximately 97% of all electricity imports to the country.[21] In November, the company began trading "green" electricity, purchasing it from renewable energy producers.[22] In December, D.Trading started trading grain, making its first deal on the domestic market and sending one thousand tons to a client, as well as opening an agro-office in Odesa.[23][24][25]
