Wikibooks is for freely-licensed collaboratively-developed textbooks.
You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold contributing and assume good faith about the intentions of others. Remember, this is a wiki, so you're allowed to change just about anything, and changes can be made easily. Come introduce yourself to everyone, and let us know what interests you.

Getting help

• See the Wikibooks help pages for common issues, or read Using Wikibooks for a more user-friendly introduction to the project.
• Remember, every edit is saved, so if you make mistakes, you can revert to an earlier version if needed.
• Get help from the community in the user assistance room or in our IRC channel.
• Files must be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, unless they are copyrighted and need to be uploaded here under fair use. If you need to upload a non-free file, you may request permission to do so. Please be sure to provide the required {{information}}: a license tag and source are always required; non-free files require a {{non-free use rationale}}.

Goodies, tips and tricks

• Please fill in the edit summary and preview your edits before saving.
• Sign your name on discussion pages by typing ~~~~
• User scripts can make many tasks easier. Look at the Gadgets tab of my preferences; check off the boxes for the scripts you want, and hit save!

Made a mistake?

• Please make sure you follow our naming policy - pages should be named like Book Title/Chapter Title.
• Need to rename a page? Use the move tab (only becomes available once your account is 4 days old - until then, ask for help).
• To get a page deleted, add {{delete|your reason for requesting deletion}} to the top of the page.
• If something you wrote was deleted, please read the deletion policy, and check the deletion log to find out why. Also check the RFD archives if applicable. You can request undeletion at WB:RFU, or ask the administrator who deleted the page.

Japanese History

David L Davis has been making significant changes to this book. I tried to ensure that existing pages you worked on were still linked from the contents and that similar topics contained the content and history that you added. However, you should take a look at the main contents' history and verify that you agree with the changes. My last edit to the main page added back in some links that were simply removed by this user, without requesting any history merges or content merges or speedy deletion requests. {{Japanese HistoryTOC}} will also need to be updated.

Featured_books/Nominations odd edits

I was puzzled by your removal of David L Davis's remarks on the page. Generally we do not delete someone else's remarks from this kind of page. Though this has been reversed now, some explanation on your part might be appreciated. Recent Runes (discuss • contribs) 23:05, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for your response on my talk page. However, in future it will be more acceptable here to avoid modifying or deleting other people's comments, and state your own views on any discussion point in your own comments instead, even if that leaves behind some incorrect information.
