[edit source]Wikibooks is for collaborative development of free textbooks.
You do not need technical skills to contribute. You can easily change most books. Please introduce yourself, and let us know what interests you.
If you already contribute at other Wikimedia projects, our Wikimedia Orientation should quickly get you started.
- Read the Using Wikibooks book for a friendly introduction to the project, or our help pages for more information.
- You can get friendly help from the community in the user assistance room or our IRC channel.
- Upload freely licensed files to Wikimedia Commons. You may request permission to upload fair use files locally. Please include author and source {{information}} and a {{non-free use rationale}} for non-free files.
- You can restore a previously saved version.
- Pages should follow the
Book Title/Chapter Title
naming convention. - Need to rename a page? Use the move tab (is available once your account is 4 days old - until then, ask for help).
- To request a page be deleted, add
{{delete|your reason}}
to the top of the page. - Was a page you made deleted? Please read the deletion policy, and check the deletion log to find out why. Also check the RFD archives if applicable. You can request undeletion at WB:RFU, or ask the administrator who deleted the page.
- Please fill in the edit summary and preview your edits before saving.
- Sign your name on discussion pages by typing ~~~~
- User scripts can make many tasks easier. Look at the Gadgets tab of my preferences; check off the boxes for the scripts you want, and hit save!
Spamming
[edit source]Hi, There's no need to warn users for spamming. Once an admin notices it they will be blocked permanently (if it's a username) or for a long time (if they're unregistered). No warning for spammers, just an instant block.--ЗAНИA talk 16:23, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- Hallo. But then how would admins come to know, as in until there is a tag, can admins know that the user was a spammer? Danke. Vishal Bakhai - Works 16:48, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
- If someone has tagged the page they created with the Speedy Delete tag then an admin will notice it very quickly. Then they can simply look at the History of the page and block the original page creator. Even if somebody hasn't tagged the page with Speedy Delete it will be found quite easily as there are only about 500 to 1000 edits here per day. Some of the spammers may also be blocked by Global Admins from other wikis especially if they start going on a rampage and spamming lots of wikis.--ЗAНИA talk 18:47, 17 May 2014 (UTC)
Notifying users about citations and facts.
[edit source]You might be interested in {{please facts}}
, it was poorly named and non-descriptive before I boldly updated it today. --darklama 20:14, 19 May 2014 (UTC)
User:Darklama. Thanks mate for this. I will remember this tlx. However, as earlier we had a discussion, this platform is not completely about sources. Users create their own books to assist others. So it will be of lesser use. Still. Danke. :) Vishal Bakhai - Works 04:16, 20 May 2014 (UTC)
User Warning
[edit source]Can you explain why you added a warning to User talk:67.139.17.98? I can see no edits that justify a warning, only constructive contributions. QuiteUnusual (discuss • contribs) 14:32, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
- I believe that this was done in error. I might have updated this to the incorrect IP. I have removed the same now. Vishal Bakhai - Works 18:31, 22 May 2014 (UTC)
Welcoming
[edit source]Hi, I think you should sign your name after welcoming new users because at the end of the template text it says If you have any questions, you can ask in the assistance reading room or contact me personally. New users probably won't know to look in the History to find out who left the message so it's probably best to add your signature.--ЗAНИA talk 09:50, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
My edit
[edit source]I wonder if you could provide an answer to my question raised on the following page Talk:Handbook of Management Scales/Alliance performance. Preferably there. 87.51.169.180 (discuss) 06:32, 9 June 2014 (UTC)
