“I only like it cause it's green.”

~ Green, The Color
Emerald Man dies in ketchup. Poor guy.

Emerald is a green ore that's found somewhere on the Earth, I don't have a fucking clue where that ore is but Minecraft Villagers think it's a great idea to give us dirt for it. Emerald is also a cyclosilicate, I don't think you know that.

Value[edit | edit source]

Color[edit | edit source]

Emeralds most likely and most definitely answer is green but some dumbass puts random colors such as yellow or blue into the mix being secondary colors. The dark-tone emeralds are considered emeralds so light-tone emeralds are beryl like seriously just put them all into one emerald instead of lightness sorting. Also 100% it’s just black and 0% it’s colorless. They said that the color green rhymes with "Lean" giving it's color we probably know today.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

The word "Emerald" came from Old French where there were guillotines and it's map giving you a seizure. Old Frenchies said it's "Emeraude" but come on that was way too hard to spell. While Vulgar Latin said it's "Esmaralda" or "Esmaraldus", holy shit. The first use of the word was around 14th century but when is "reliable" sources correct.

Culture and Lore[edit | edit source]

Emerald is regarded as a birthstone for May as well the gemstone for Cancer. Traditional Lore says that it counteract poison and if somebody venomous looks at it, it will become blind but can't they just run away? Author L. Frank Baum's children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, they go to the city "Emerald City" which is a city but who knows maybe it isn't a city to meet "The Wizard."
