edit- This term is used to gloss Latin ōcimum, conventionally translated as 'basil', so it was traditionally thought to bear that meaning too. However, Latin ōcimum does not necessarily mean "basil". making this identification groundless, especially since basil is quite dissimilar to mistletoe.
