Rhymes: -aɪmz


This template is to be used for the rhymes link of a word in the pronunciation section.

Usage

On the page for listen:

* {{rhymes|en|ɪsən}}

resulting in

On the page for do, in the Dutch section:

* {{rhymes|nl|oː}}

resulting in

For words with multiple pronunciations, more rhymes can be noted in the template with additional parameters.

On the page for Asia:

* {{rhymes|en|eɪʃə|eɪʒə}}

resulting in

Syllable counts

You can also specify the number of syllables in the word for automatic categorization. The number of syllables is provided with the |s= parameter, or if they only apply to one of the rhymes, use |s1= for the first rhyme, etc. If there are multiple values, separate them with commas. For example, for Asia:

* {{rhymes|en|eɪʃə|eɪʒə|s=2}}

And for meow (which can be pronounced with one or two syllables):

* {{rhymes|en|aʊ|s=1,2}}

Qualifiers

You can also use |q1=, etc. to add qualifiers to rhymes. For example, for show:

* {{rhymes|en|əʊ|oʊ|s=1|q1=Received Pronunciation|q2=General American}}

Resulting in:

  • Rhymes: (Received Pronunciation) -əʊ, (General American) -oʊ
