From Adam-s-town or Adamstown. The place on Pitcairn is named after John Adams, one of the mutineers who originally settled there. The place in Ireland is named for Adam Devereux, the one in Maryland for Adam Kohlenburg, and the one in Pennsylvania for William Addams.
