Cognate with Tibetan སྐྱོགས (skyogs, “ladle, dipper”); the traditional comparison with Old Chinese 勺 (OC *pljewɢ, *bljewɢ, “ladle, spoon”) appears phonetically untenable, based on newer reconstructions of the pronunciation.
