From Proto-Indo-Iranian *ćwāsás, from Proto-Indo-European *ḱwos-ó-s, from *ḱwes- (to pant, puff, sigh). Cognate with, Baluchi ساہ (sáh, breath, blow, essence), Latin queror. Compare also English quarrel, wheeze, from Latin and Old Norse, respectively.
