удирдах

ᠤᠳᠤᠷᠢᠳᠬᠤ (uduridqu) | удирдах (udirdax) |
Etymology
editFrom *udurid-, equivalent to Proto-Mongolic *udu- (“to follow”) -рь (-rʹ) (“sequence”) -дах (-dax) (“to guide a sequence (retinue), to manage”). Compare Kalmyk удр татх (udr tatx, “to lead”, literally “to pull a sequence”), Ordos ᠤᠳᠤᠷᠢᠳᠬᠤ (uduridqu, “to take the initiative in doing something”).
As for *udu- itself, it is likely a borrowing from Proto-Turkic *ūð- (“to follow”), compare Turkish uymak.
