editOld East Slavic лапша (lapša), from Tatar [Term?] or Uyghur [Term?]. Compare dialectal локша́ (lokšá) or лохша́ (loxšá). Cognates with Ukrainian ло́кшина (lókšyna), лапша́ (lapšá), Belarusian ло́кшына (lókšyna). Ultimately an Iranian word found in Modern Persian as لخشک (laxšak).
