Etymology 1

From ora (aphetic form of ahora) le. Unrelated to the imperative órale (pray!, say!) in etymology 2, though perhaps influenced by it through association. Some other Mexican Spanish exhortative exclamations are proparoxytone imperative forms ending in -le (ándale, apúrale, córrele, etc.).
