This page is an election of WikiProject coordinators—consisting of one Lead Coordinator and a number of assistant coordinators—for the Guild of Copy Editors (GOCE). Coordinators elected on this page will serve a six-month term beginning at 00:00 on 1 January 2025 and ending at 23:59 on 30 June[a]. GOCE elections are open to all Wikipedians in good standing[b] and self-nominations are welcomed.
The project coordinators are responsible for maintaining the procedural and administrative aspects of the project. They are the designated points of contact for procedural issues and are responsible for ensuring the project as a whole is properly informed of them.
Here are some examples of coordinator duties:
- monitoring and responding to comments and question at the project's main talk pages (Main, Requests and Coordinators), the Requests page, the category Wikipedia articles needing copy edit, and talk pages of any ongoing editathons;
- assisting with the organizing and promotion of regular editathons:
- month-long Backlog Elimination Drives held in odd-numbered months and
- week-long Blitzes held Sunday-to-Saturday on a mid-month week in even-numbered months to be decided in advance;
- creating, finalizing and distributing quarterly newsletters and annual reports;
- creating, promoting and conducting twice-yearly coordinator elections;
- ensuring project announcements in the ombox and task lists are kept up-to-date
- drafting of guidelines needed by the project;
- monitoring and handling the database report;
- updating statistics on the progress chart;
- maintaining the project pages and the guidelines on them in a clean and easy-to-use state; and
- encouraging the participation of new and existing GOCE members, including the use of project notices and other advertising methods.
Please see the full list of tasks for GOCE coordinators. Feel free to ask questions at the Coordinators talk page.
The coordinator positions do not confer any executive power.
- Lead Coordinator (one open position): will have overall responsibility for procedural and administrative matters within the project.
- Coordinator (2–4 open positions): will assist the Lead Coordinator by focusing on specific areas within the project that require special attention. These areas will be selected based on need and interest among the coordinators.
- The nomination process will run from December 01, 00:01 UTC until December 15, 23:59 UTC.
- The voting process will run from December 16, 00:01 UTC until December 31, 23:59 UTC.
- Any member of the project may nominate themselves for either position by creating a new section under Nominations below and copying the sample form below. Nominees only interested in one position should indicate this when adding their names. Candidates need not make extensive statements if they do not wish to do so.
- The election will be conducted using simple approval voting. Any member of the project may support a nominee for either position. If the nominee is running for both positions and you wish to support them for only one, please make a note to that effect as part of your vote.
- Both project members and interested outside parties are encouraged to ask questions of the nominees or to make general comments.

- Hi @IQR:, welcome to the Guild and thank you for nominating yourself for a coordinator position. Your username is unfamiliar to me; as of my timestamp, you have 491 edits. Which activities are you interested in helping with? Good luck and cheers, Baffle☿gab 02:47, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Baffle gab1978 coordinator. thanks a lot. @ IQR (talk) 10:00, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @IQR:, thanks for your reply. You don't seems to have understood my question so I rephrase it: which coordinator tasks are you interested in helping with? Thanks, Baffle☿gab 18:35, 13 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- I apologize for being late, but anything you deemed perfect for a wiki editor like me. i am prepared to support in any way I can. cheers! @Baffle gab1978 IQR (talk) 13:26, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- I am more interested in copywriting, patrolling, ensuring the pages are perfect and neutral in tone. I would be happy to take up any task like updating a wiki page or assisting with drives and blitzes. Regards. IQR. @Baffle gab1978 IQR (talk) 13:32, 18 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
(←) Comment: Thanks for your nomination and replies, IQR. I'd like to support a new editor's nomination but I'd like to see some experience with the GOCE and what we do here, which is copy-editing. I suggest taking part in our drives and blitzes, copy-editing some articles, and familiarising yourself with our processes. If you're still interested, the next election is in June. Hope to see you around; best of luck and cheers, Baffle☿gab 10:28, 26 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

- I have been a co-ord before and I'm willing to do it again. While I am aware that I have become less active nowadays due to real-life issues, I still think I will be a great asset to the team.

- I found this WikiProject to be amongst the best there is, and I'm willing to help this further by becoming a coordinator. I have already participated in 1 drive and 1 blitz and I have a good sense of how things work around here. I will utilize my position effectively and I will not create any problems.

- Hi @TNM101: and welcome to the Guild. I have noticed your presence at the dived and blitzes; thank you. Which particular areas of Guild activities are you interested in help with? Good luck and cheers, Baffle☿gab 06:13, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- I am interested to help in all activities, but mostly I will help with the coordinator tasks and I will try to recruit more members into the Guild. In order to perform this recruitment, I will try to do things that will make the guild look more attractive to newcomers and experienced editors alike. One of the things I have personally felt that in order to get more members, there is a need to feel a sense of accomplishment after copyediting and that will be my area of focus. I am aware that the GOCE Awards already exist to provide this feeling, however I will try to do new things in addition to this. TNM101 (chat) 13:16, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello fellow Guild Members and Coordinators. After analyzing my current academic commitments, I have realized will not be able to perform any meaningful contributions to the Guild or to Wikipedia itself starting from next year and until around April 2025. I do not want to get nominated and not perform the duties that are required from this position. Therefore, I would like to withdraw my nomination. Thank you Bafflegab for questioning me and I would like to apologize to all Guild members as well because I did not think thoroughly before nominating myself. Best, TNM101 (chat) 13:06, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Dhtwiki (talk · contribs) • Interested in Lead Coordinator or Coordinator positions.
- I have been active with the Guild since the May 2014 drive. I can continue to serve as Lead Coordinator, as I have for the past three terms, or take a Coordinator position, which I held for five terms, from early 2021 to the middle of 2023.

- Copyediting is helpful in enhancing Wikipedia and the current coordinators are not doing enough to make copyediting widespread. As a coordinator, I would host more copyediting events and encourage the wider Wikipedian community to copyedit.

- Hi @WikiEditor5678910:, welcome to the Guild. I haven't seen your name here before; your stats are here. I have two questions: what new copy-editing events do you wish to host and which extant Guild activities are you interested in helping with? Good luck and cheers, Baffle☿gab 03:14, 9 December 2024 (UTC).[reply]
- @Baffle gab1978 Thank you and if I am elected, every month there will be a copyediting event. Also, there will be a massive recruitment program put in place to get more members in the guild. WikiEditor5678910 (talk) 16:17, 9 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Thank you for you answers; more active participants are certainly needed. My follow up: are you interested in helping with mundane coordinator duties, like updating pages or assisting with drives and blitzes? Baffle☿gab 05:57, 10 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- @Baffle gab1978 Of course I would do the mundane coordinator duties because I have a lot of time in my life to dedicate to the position. WikiEditor5678910 (talk) 18:25, 11 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks for answering my questions; good luck and cheers, Baffle☿gab 01:38, 12 December 2024 (UTC).[reply]
