Wikipedia:WikiProject Deletion sorting/Alabama

This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Alabama. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Alabama|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Alabama. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Wikipedia's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to US.

Non notable topic, all references are to the school system's own website. Article content as also of little importance and most of it doesn't belong on Wikipedia anyways Sandcat555 (talk) 05:29, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- Delete without prejudice. School districts are suitable topics in general, indeed less notable schools can often be covered in an article about the district. However, the current article looks like a self-promotional ‘about us’ piece, not an encyclopedia article. Sjakkalle (Check!) 07:34, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- Just a note: Deletion is not appropriate for problems that can be fixed. I agree this article is an advertorial, but that can be fixed with an extensive rewrite. 4.37.252.50 (talk) 18:06, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- Or by turning into a basic WP:STUB, which would take maybe 60 seconds. WhatamIdoing (talk) 18:35, 26 November 2024 (UTC)

- Keep - US school districts are not judged by the notability standards for schools. They are a unit of government and as such, have a much lower notability hurdle. Even without any research, I am certain this subject will meet that lower hurdle. Public school districts have extensive reporting requirements to both the state and federal government. Additionally, they both levy taxes and hold elections, which pretty much guarantees coverage in secondary sources. 4.37.252.50 (talk) 18:13, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- Keep because there are always sources available for US school districts if you look for them. A very simple WP:BEFORE search turned up this news report, which is not the happy-advertorial content that the boosters would like, but it should be in the article. - Keep Hi everybody! So I am the user who did most of the writing for this article. I completely agree that in it's current format it is extremely advertorial in it's current form. A school district is notable in my opinion. The bad writing came from the fact that it was my first time adding info on to a a stub article but I have since looked at many other pages and feel that it can be improved. I believe that there was even recent controversy that could be noted. Thank you all for your contributions to this conversation!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Middle Mac CJM (talk • contribs) 01:09, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
- Keep - Deletion is not for clean up. Thanks to Middle Mac CJM for the above context. If the article can be rewritten in a more encyclopaedic style there is no need to delete it. Sirfurboy🏄 (talk) 09:10, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Stub about a basketball coach. I took a crack at looking for material but came up short. Best I could add is that he did one year as an assistant coach in the NBA. I could flesh it out with more lower level teams he was associated with, but I found nothing but database entries and mentions in passing of his short stints at colleges and a Chinese team, so it does nto seem worth it. No in depth sources about him, so no evidence he passes WP:SPORTBASIC. No evidence he ever played in NBA so fails WP:NBASKETBALL. Don't see this meeting WP:NBIO Meters (talk) 23:36, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
Forgot to mention that there was an unsourced (and undone) edit last year that claimed that as of 2023 he was a middle school basketball coach [1]. Meters (talk) 23:39, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- Comment. I am getting some hits in google books. I think it highly probable that there may be coverage in newspaper archives. Anyone able to check newspapers.com?4meter4 (talk) 00:40, 26 November 2024 (UTC)
- I'm happy to withdraw this if suitable coverage is found, but I didn't find any in depth coverage. Appears to be a run-of-the-mill coach with short stints at various colleges, and who peaked with one year as an assistant in the NBA. Meters (talk) 00:23, 27 November 2024 (UTC)
