In a Wikipedia discussion, a stinkbomb is the use of vulgar appeals to emotion to divert developing consensus. Whether or not intended, the tactic may have the effects of confounding consensus building efforts, freezing consensus, and limiting new participants to those willing to tolerate the tactic.
