- Lightning Thundercat (talk · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki)
Code letter: F ([1])
Supporting evidence: Typical Sarsaparilla interests, including immediate edits to articles related to proxy voting and his pet term 'liquid democracy' ([2]). Conspicuously experienced for a new editor — on his fifth edit (nine minutes in) he was using {main} template successfully: [3]. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 23:26, 12 November 2008 (UTC)
- NB: I added Lightning Thundercat (note spelling) because the original account the user signed up with included a typo. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 23:30, 12 November 2008 (UTC)

- Simultaneous movement (talk · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki)
Code letter: F ([4])
Supporting Evidence
- Simultaneous movement shows the typical Sarsaparilla interests: libertarianism, proxy voting, drug policy, and some game theory.
- Clearly not an all together new user: second edit is creation of a redirect [5] and his early contribution history includes quickly-made edits that include relatively sophisticated Wikimarkup.
- Has also tagged pages as belonging to Wikiproject Drug Policy [6] which was founded by a Sarsaparilla sock [7].
- Aldrich Hanssen, another indef-blocked sockpuppeteer, appears to also be Sarsaparilla, based on similar interests (libertarianism and game theory, primarily) and this peculiar edit by an Aldrich Hanssen sock to Sarsaparilla's user page. As well, Aldrich's creation of (now-deleted) Pure wiki deletion looks very much like Sarsaparilla sock User:SpiritWorldWiki's proposal of a similar concept [8]. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 02:19, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- Wow, I blocked both of them at different times and never made the connection. IIRC we have Sars's geographic IPs laying around somewhere, so even if the data is stale, a checkuser can at least geolocate. MBisanz talk 03:31, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- Confirmed Simultaneous movement (talk · contribs) = Aldrich Hanssen (talk · contribs), IP blocked. I have asked Thatcher if he has his old CU data for Sarsaparilla. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not wikidrama) 04:31, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- One IP (who confessed to being Sarsaparilla) at Category:Suspected Wikipedia sockpuppets of Sarsaparilla is from the same city and ISP as Aldrich Hanssen/Simultaneous movement. The other IPs listed in the category belong to George Mason University, which is located in the same geographic region as the Aldrich Hanssen/Simultaneous movement IP. In my opinion, this is sufficient evidence that Aldrich Hanssen and Simultaneous movement are sockpuppets of Sarsaparilla. Nishkid64 (Make articles, not wikidrama) 05:07, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- The main IP is consistent with the last check I ran. Thatcher 11:03, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
- I don't think there is any doubt as to Simultaneous movement. Note that calling Obuibo Mbstpo a "sock" of Sarsaparilla, as has been done in the archives below, is a little misleading. Yes. Same user. But Obuibo Mbstpo was a replacement account for Sarsaparilla, and openly. This user only creates new accounts because he's blocked, he's not other than that -- which I agree is a problem on its own, and I have privately asked him to stop and to go through proper channels if he wants to return to editing -- disruptive on any major scale. Just to be clear. --Abd (talk) 14:02, 24 October 2008 (UTC)

Supporting Evidence
- Sarsaparilla was heavily involved in the delegable proxy proposal; CCAEMR proposes something similar here.
- SpiritWorldWiki (talk · contribs), a Sarsaparilla sock, proposed development of a Wiki where deleted articles would go until they could be repaired to meet Wikipedia's standards; CCAEMR discusses Deletionpedia, a similar (though not identical) site, here.
- Sarsaparilla repeatedly self-identified as a libertarian; CCAEMR edits mostly on drug policy, an area of substantial interest for libertarians.
- Obuibo Mbstpo (talk · contribs), a Sarsaparilla sock, created Wikiproject Parliamentary Procedure early in his editing career, and then created a whole mess of new articles to fall under the project. CCAEMR is doing something very similar with drug policy: [10], [11], [12], [13], [14], etc.
Sarcasticidealist (talk) 18:43, 27 April 2008 (UTC) Update After CCAEMR started editing articles on parliamentary procedure ([15] for example) I've decided I'm comfortable blocking per WP:DUCK. I'll leave this request open in case a check user feels that a check is warranted (also, based on past behaviour there are almost certainly several more Sarsaparilla socks about, but I'm not sure if doing a check on that basis would constitute fishing). An interested CheckUser could also confirm
- Muskratatouille (talk · tag · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log · CA · CheckUser(log) · investigate · cuwiki)
Updated: I've blocked Muskratatouille as an obvious sock, as he showed up at Talk:Proxy voting mere minutes after the indef block of Chin Chill-A Eat Mor Rodents. TenOfAllTrades(talk) 01:54, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Comment: Black Kite, reverted some IP edits at ANI. Perhaps you should consider checking these IPs. Notice, for example, the edit summaries here. Something seems up, but I am not sure who is all involved, which is why I am suggesting it to you. Sincerely, --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 03:34, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Confirmed both Chin Chill-A and Muskratatouille. Thatcher 11:12, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

User:Sarsaparilla is a banned user with a large sock farm (confirmed, suspected). Of late, his socks have been primarily engaged in editing articles covered by WikiProject Parliamentary Procedure, itself founded by Sarsaparilla sock User:Obuibo Mbstpo. Normally these edits are unsubtle enough to block on sight without a checkuser, but Starvation mode has made edits outside of the area, which is inconsistent with the other socks' behaviour, so I thought a checkuser would be advisable. Evidence:
- Without having displated any previous interest in parliamentary procedure articles, Starvation mode came in and added Template:Cite parl (which was created by a Sarsaparilla sock) to the WP:WPPP page [17])
- Like Sarsaparilla's other socks, Starvation mode and SLN uses the text of his edits as his edit summaries. Sarcasticidealist (talk) 18:23, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- SLN's first edits were template creations, which is hardly suggestive of a new user: [18]
- SLN has created and extensively edited Stopping the clock, an article on a parliamentary procedure-related topic.
- SLN has feuded with User:Fredrick day and his IP socks ([19], [20], [21], [22], [23], [24], [25]); Fredrick day and Sarsaparilla were involved in a major feud.
- As with many Sarsaparilla socks, SLN uses a full name as a username.
[case filed by User:Sarcasticidealist]
This user newly registers and is clearly familiar with Wikipedia, that and the parlipro edit could indicate Sarsaparilla. I have not thoroughly reviewed all the edits, but tangling with Fredrick day is a pretty strong clue. I do see a basis for checkuser. Even though I'm a strong supporter of Sarsaparilla and think his ban excessive. The edits re Fredrick day that I have seen are accurate as to Fd's activities, though I have not reviewed them all. If this were an ordinary very active editor, what I've seen so far would be fine. But indication that it is Sarsaparilla is strong.--Abd (talk) 20:30, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
