Function details: Will merge WikiProject banners after consensus at TfD. For example {{PARENT PROJECT|class=stub|importance=low}} {{CHILD PROJECT|class=stub|importance=mid}} to {{PARENT PROJECT|class=stub|importance=low|child=yes|child-importance=mid}} This was done for WikiProject Patna, botreq linked, and I suspect there will be quite a few more in the near future.

    Trial complete. 50 edits, most went smootly except for some whitespace issue with the first few edits, not caught immedietly because I wasn't familiar with how AWB displays the addition of a blank line, and edit 7 where the assumption that there were no other templates starting with WikiProject Oregon placed between the parent and child templates proved wrong. It's now fixed and I reran it at https://regex101.com/ which showed it was fixed. I intended on using the last few edits to remove the child template when it was already redundant, but as it turns out this is never the case for this merger. I hope this isn't a problem for approval. Might as well say that parameter removal like this only occured because it used parameters not defined by the template, for which I checked so it didn't remove any extra parameters that could result in information loss. As there wasn't any issues after edit 7, I don't believe a full new trial should be necessary, but would gladly do so if that would make approval faster. --Trialpears (talk) 22:24, 14 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Trial looks good to me and I am happy with the improvements that you have made throughout. On a personal note, I would've liked to see the regex fix linked rather than just the site homepage, but that is relatively minor.  Approved..   • Post-approval update: following a discussion at WP:AWBREQ (permalink) this task has been expanded to also include WikiProject banners where there is a clear consensus within that project that a banner is to be merged or otherwise replaced with another banner. This is primarily to avoid an unnecessary trip to TFD purely for the purposes of indicating that consensus. Primefac (talk) 01:14, 7 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
