Franck Ribéry

edit

Have you mentioned it to the editor in question? That first edit (converting to bare URL and changing a direct link to a redirect) was strange, but overall there is no major issue - after all, the article now has a RS where there wasn't one before. PS echoing what Matty said above, your new user name had me scratching my head for a while, what prompted the change? GiantSnowman 08:11, 6 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes, it threw me at the Matty's RFA when you said you were active at FOOTY and I thought to myself, "err no he's not." Chris Jericho was a favourite of mine (15 years ago!) and I still think I have a Jericho action figure in my garage somewhere. At first I thought your name was a homage to this! Caretaker managers in Managers Template

edit

Hello mate, could you please provide your opinion on including caretaker managers like Brian Kidd in the Club Managers template on Template talk:Manchester City F.C. managers#Brian_Kidd. I am trying to build consensus and your input is invaluable. Thanks. JMHamo (talk) 20:27, 15 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Hi once again, you confused me with your name change! I was wondering, have you considered putting forward List of Plymouth Argyle F.C. seasons as a candidate for Today's featured list on the Main page? I'm thinking this might be a good idea for later on this year when the next season commences, being Argyle's 100th season of association football. Let me know if you do, as I would happily support this (after ensuring it meets the criteria!) Cheers, Zangar (talk) 01:54, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I know the feeling with finding time! But let me know if you would like a hand with the update. Cheers, Zangar (talk) 06:08, 19 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

League Cup draw etc

edit

Hello. A few seconds hovering over your contributions made it clear who you were, whatever you chose to call yourself :-) But I'm not sure what you mean by a "proper" club: far from it, in my opinion. As to player lists, if we're counting caps won while contracted to a club, then loan signings are contracted, albeit temporarily, so should be counted. By the same logic, I excluded caps won by a player while on loan from BCFC: the only one I remember of those was Stephen Kelly when they inexplicably shipped him out to Stoke leaving us without a right-back. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:49, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

I did the opposite, counting any cap gained while contracted to the club, even when out on loan. Otherwise, picking apart the chronology for the likes of Ryan McGivern would have been very difficult indeed. While including caps for both inward and outward loans is kind of double counting, I was lucky enough not to encounter any inward ones. But I don't think it really matters what method is used, so long as you are consistent. Be prepared to be thoroughly sick of the task by the time you get to about "L" or "M" ;-) Oldelpaso (talk) 16:39, 17 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
Dirt cheap tickets, apparently. BCFC are probably counting it as this year's high-profile pre-season friendly...

The list of players capped while at the club in my BCFC book source includes loanees, so that was a sound practical reason for doing it that way. Also, quite a few national associations use the club at which the player is on loan in their squad lists e.g. Denmark/Bendtner, Finland/Tainio, Czech Rep/Jarosik, Sweden/Seb Larsson (before we bought him). I'd agree with Oldelpaso, do it whichever way round is easier. If you need any help looking for sources or anything, please feel free to ask. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 16:26, 18 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Cherno Samba

edit

Hi, in March 2011 you added a Football Association source for Cherno Samba's England youth caps. I'm just wondering if you can remember how you accessed this page; I'm trying to find the equivalent pages for other players but am having no luck. ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Invite to the African Destubathon

edit

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:13, 6 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

Europe 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Europe/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Germany, Italy, the Benelux countries, Iberian Peninsula, Romania, Slovenia etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. If you would like to see masses of articles being improved for Europe and your specialist country like Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon, sign up today and once the challenge starts a contest can be organized. This is a way we can target every country of Europe, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant and also sign under any country sub challenge on the page that you might contribute to! Thank you. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:10, 7 November 2016 (UTC)Reply

Possible removal of AWB access due to inactivity

edit

Hello! There is currently a request for approval of a bot to manage the AutoWikiBrowser CheckPage by removing inactive users, among other tasks. You are being contacted because you may qualify as an inactive user of AWB. First, if you have any input on the proposed bot task, please feel free to comment at the BRFA. Should the bot task be approved, your access to AWB may be uncontroversially removed if you do not resume editing within a week's time. This is purely for routine maintenance of the CheckPage, and is not indicative of wrongdoing on your part. You will be able regain access at any time by simply requesting it at WP:PERM/AWB. Thank you! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
