I have again removed your edit as it doesn’t even state his name in the screenshot coming from any of his social medias. Please read WP:UGC — Reddit is an online forum, it's not a source. Pillowdelight (talk) 08:31, 1 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Rotten Tomatoes page is dead

edit

I think I understand your edit now[1]

Yes the Rotten Tomatoes page is dead. The dead page has been marked as dead, and the archive-url has been added to the reference and url-status=dead update accordingly, effectively replacing the dead page with the archived version. Marking it with {{dead link}} tag is redundant at this point. -- 109.79.171.34 (talk) 19:45, 4 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Template:Cite_web#URL in some cases editors will change the url-status= to unfit or usurped if a site is serving up something actively bad, but for a simple 404 it is usually left as is (even though the original page is no longer helpful). I suppose you could do that if you find the dead link really objectionable but there is no reason to have a {{dead link}} tag after a reference that has been marked url-status=dead already and an archive copy provided. -- 109.79.171.34 (talk) 19:51, 4 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
this is what happens when I click the archive link on mobile. I haven’t tried it on my PC but I wanted to mark that the archive URL was seemingly not working. RF23 (talk) 21:48, 4 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Oh, that is weird. I've seen problems where automatically added archive pointed to a useless page but this seems to be something different, but as I said the archive URL works for me and I am on Desktop.
Is this link any better? https://web.archive.org/web/20070508050341/http://www.rottentomatoes.com/features/special/2007/comic/?r=76&mid=1139025 or still the same problem? -- 109.79.171.34 (talk) 21:53, 4 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Yeah that link works, thanks. I’ve seen weird stuff with links on mobile (like a mobile redirecting to a 404 but the article showing up on desktop) but never with an archive.org link before. RF23 (talk) 22:16, 4 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
