License tagging for Image:SinkOrSwinSNES.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:SinkOrSwinSNES.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 01:09, 12 January 2007 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image (Image:BugByte-SavagePond.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:BugByte-SavagePond.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Salavat 12:44, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Fair use image use
editPer WP:NFCC item #8, we do not permit the use of fair use images in galleries such as you have attempted on Acorn Electron. If you have questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. Simple reversion is not acceptable and would violate policy. Thank you, --Durin 22:41, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Decision after decision after decision after decision after decision after decision after decision after decision has ruled against the use of such galleries. I am reverting this change and reporting it to WP:AN/I. I cautioned you against simple reversion. --Durin 01:00, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- Reported. Thank you, --Durin 01:14, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- (Response from ANI) Whether you agree with Durin or not, reverting his edits won't accomplish anything. He is right that galleries of nonfree images have been removed from other articles already. You will need to discuss the issue if you want to argue for keeping them on the Acorn Electrion article; the main discussion forum for questions about nonfree media is WT:NONFREE. — Carl (CBM · talk) 01:43, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
Re: Thanks for Pipeline
editHi RJ, hope this reaches you, I'm replying to your comment about Pipeline (and this too is "Blatant abuse of the Wiki User talk page", hope no-one notices). Thanks very much for your comments about the game (and for your constructive edits of the page). I'm delighted whenever someone says they enjoyed it, more and more so as time goes on. I don't write games these days (though I do drop in on game developer conferences every now and then, and occasionally bump into coder heroes from the 8-bit days, like Jeff Minter). I do write programs still, but they are scientific ones (computational biology) -- see biowiki.org which is my group's website. All the best... Platform
editPlease stop adding in ports to the launch platform identifier in the infobox. The plural in the title is for more modern games that launch on multiple platforms. Ports are covered in the Ports section of the article. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 22:05, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- The design of the infobox is in regards to the main platform, hence the inclusion of information such as mode, input method, cabinet, display, CPU, etc. etc. in the infobox template. This goes for all sub-templates as well. If a game was released on multiple platforms at launch (such as your Thrust example), then of course the multiple launch releases belong in the list (hence the plural). "Staggered releases" can still be considered ports however, unless its documented that the other platforms were being worked on at the same time and not as an after launch. Also, the issue here is unruly long lists of ports that have developed in the Platform line of the infobox, which Wikipedia does have policies against - prose is always preferred over lists. The idea of including all platforms it was available for is what the standard Ports section of the video game related articles is for, and the prose format these sections use are more inline with policy than a long list. If there's an article that section doesn't exist in (such as Thrust), feel free to create it. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 22:23, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- Just created a Ports section there for you, as well as the other standard sections. There actually was an entire paragraph already discussing ports, it was just in the intro area instead of where it should be. --Marty Goldberg (talk) 22:38, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

Coldcut stuff
editHey, good job adding to the Coldcut page. You may notice if you read the history section that it pretty much only covers up to the early nineties then starts talking about their style, etc. If you know about the release of Let Us Play! and it's reception and any other stuff regarding them post-1997 you should really add it. That section is a bit of a mess right now. Cheers Kansaikiwi (talk) 01:04, 12 April 2009 (UTC)
File copyright problem with File:SomethingElseKinksCover.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:SomethingElseKinksCover.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILY (TALK) 21:50, 21 July 2009 (UTC)
WikiProject The Kinks
editHello RetroJunkie,
I was wondering if you'd like to help me set up a WikiProject for The Kinks. You seem to be very active in editing pages related to them, and are a great contributor to that community as a whole.
I've set up a proposal at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/The Kinks, and it's currently waiting for approval. It will need a few votes for it to pass, however. Would you be interested? Many Thanks, I.M.S. (talk) 18:39, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. User-generated sources
editHi Retro junkie. Please avoid adding user-generated content as source 1, such as Discogs, per WP:RSDISCOGS. Same for Amazon per WP:RSPAMAZON, Spotify, Apple Music, and social media. It makes the text dubious and worthless on an encyclopedic page and leads to the deletion of the content. See also: Wikipedia:WikiProject Albums/Sources. --Oroborvs (talk) 13:05, 23 April 2022 (UTC)
- I do understand that it is not a good idea to use user generated content when it is something that could be edited in wrong but when all the source was proving was that the thing exists, it does seem enough. I did look at the official artist website but the details (B side track etc) are now missing since it has sold out. I suppose there'll be a snapshot of that site from a few months ago that would do.
