If you've come to this talk page, you've probably already realized that I may take things too seriously at times. The above graphic is here in recognition of the necessity to keep things "in proper perspective". Thank you for understanding. Note: in 2015, this graphic is obviously out of date – no "Obama is teh gay LOL", and only the slightest hint of Wikipedia's expansive pop-culture sewer (e.g. untold hundreds or possibly even thousands of articles apiece on assorted minutiae related to Disney, The Simpsons, South Park, etc. etc.). I'll be waiting for WikiProject Amy Winehouse with eager anticipation.

First National Bank Alaska and Primary/Secondary Sources

edit

Hello RadioKAOS! First, thank you for all the contributions you've made to the First National Bank Alaska article. We've enjoyed seeing it become more robust as those with an interest in Alaska businesses and history add information. We see that you've added a banner suggesting that the article include more secondary and/or tertiary sources. Forgive us the question, as we are not experts on this platform, but do you have any specific suggestions on how we might help to improve the article? Without editing it ourselves, obviously! We've discussed asking employees and customers to contribute their knowledge and experience with FNB, with an emphasis that their additions avoid promotional commentary. Would that be advisable? Thanks in advance for your input on this! Fnbalaska (talk) 20:53, 5 November 2018 (UTC)fnbalaskaReply

CDPs

edit

First off, I agree with tagging the section as incomplete. While I don't do it anymore, for years I watched many county articles nationwide, and as such I've often seen people add non-CDPs to CDP sections, having misunderstood what a CDP is. For this reason, we really really need to have an article on a community (or a citation to the Census Bureau or the GNIS) before putting it into a CDP section on a county or borough article. I definitely wouldn't object to a restoration with citation! I don't think that 1980 or 1990 CDPs have been suppressed; it's simply that we don't have information easily available for them, and most people aren't going to go digging for information to write about them. Meanwhile, lots of people have been writing about the new 2010 CDPs; presumably Alaska's not gotten much attention because...it's Alaska and not many people pay attention to it. Meanwhile, my removal of the Fairbanks neighborhoods was a matter of practicality and standard practise — nationwide, we don't include lists of city neighborhoods in county articles. They definitely deserve to be mentioned, but in the city article or in a piece of prose in the borough article's not-yet-created history section; including places that are neither cities nor unincorporated areas in this section is at variance with what we do nationwide, since Fairbanks neighborhoods are already covered with a link to Fairbanks. Susan Butcher article

edit

Not that you don't have plenty on your plate, but the Susan Butcher article has large chunks that are straight rip-off from Source 1. I added the NYT obit to references, but would like to have a couple other sources as I am lousy at rewrites and pussyfooting around text. If you would care to tackle the rewrite, great, but if not could you point me to another RS? Most of the external links are dead.

BTW good eye on the Soldotna shopping center. Dankarl (talk) 01:02, 27 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Fortunately the copyvio material was a recent addition, I reverted and then restored those recent additions that were from other sources (I hope correctly). I need to go on wikibreak but talk-page modification will generate an email if you need clarification. Dankarl (talk) 13:30, 27 June 2013 (UTC)Reply
What would be most useful at this point would be if you could somehow get the text of the Talbott article (ref 14) from the News-Miner which seems to have been a main source for the version of the article I reverted to. If we knew what parts of that article were sourced then we would know what we need to beef up. If you have time you could check and insert inline citations (I guessed on some Talbotts), otherwise i will tackle it when I get back. No crisis, the article is as good or better than it was at the beginning of May.
If you need to get in touch, please use the Commons talkpage as it, unlike the one on WP, sends me an email alert on modification. I've done a little more cleanup and added some live links to the article and am now trying to convince myself i really am on wikibreak. Dankarl (talk) 15:06, 28 June 2013 (UTC)Reply

Tom Peterson

edit

Hello. It appears that you have been canvassing—leaving messages on a biased choice of users' talk pages to notify them of an ongoing community decision, debate, or vote—in order to influence Tom Peterson. While friendly notices are allowed, they should be limited and nonpartisan in distribution and should reflect a neutral point of view. Please do not post notices which are indiscriminately cross-posted, which espouse a certain point of view or side of a debate, or which are selectively sent only to those who are believed to hold the same opinion as you. Remember to respect Wikipedia's principle of consensus-building by allowing decisions to reflect the prevailing opinion among the community at large. I presume you acted in good faith, and appreciate your bringing this to the attention of WikiProject Oregon. However, the fact that your notice espoused a particular point of view predisposed to disagree with your opinion. YBG (talk) 04:56, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

The above template-generated notice might have seemed to bite a bit. To clarify, your notification was
  • completely appropriate in its scale (limited, not spamming), and transparancy (open, not off-wiki);
  • a little questionable in the audience (WikiProject Oregon is obviously interested, but could be considered partisan)
  • inappropriate only in its message (biased, not neutral).
Thanks for brining it to our attention and please keep on working to make WP a better encyclopedia!!!! YBG (talk) 05:17, 26 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Alaska political corruption probe

edit

I've been trying to tighten up the Alaska political corruption probe page, which needs a lot of work. I've done quite a bit over time and recently. However, my efforts to get irrelevant and apparently libelous materials and harangues off the page have been frustrated by one or two posters (there may be sock puppetry there). You usually have some good suggestions and you've been involved in editing the page for some time. Have you any thoughts about it that might be helpful? Activist (talk) 05:40, 29 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for all your input.
I posted prior text to the BLP Noticeboard last night. Got some good feedback from one editor. I think there's been more but I've just gotten back on line after being off since the wee hours this a.m. so I'll look for that in a minute.

You don't see anything that ties the whole matter into the actual subject of the article because there isn't anything. You're right about Lisa, of course. There was a very tenuous connection between her land deal in Kenai and the Polar Pen investigation through Bob Penney's connection to Ted's "chalet." But the connection was remote. In the case of Duncan and ASEA, there's none, of course. There was actually a connection between Polar Pen and Ketchikan. Frank Prewitt, Weimar and Cornell wanted to build a rent-a-pen on Gravina Island, with the feds pitching in a quarter of a billion to build the necessary bridge and an intertie. It didn't go anywhere because the Borough Assembly knew better and Bill W. and Frank P. turned their attention to where they thought they had better action: In Wrangell, where Robin Taylor was involved, and Whittier, where the mayor, the city administrator (for a "city" of 182 people), and the harbormaster all had their fingers in the pie. I don't think the schemers ever wanted to build in Whittier, where there's no labor force, the tunnel problem, tsunamis, avalanche and probably a potential Superfund problem, but it was the mechanism they were using to get the state to change the law to favor their various schemes. If they were able to do that, they could have built anywhere. Knowles wasn't going for it, as were many legislators who gave it the fish eye. In addition to the above grifters, Jerry Ward, Loren Leman and Eldon Mulder were also looking to score big with Cornell or whomever. Frank M. wasn't enthusiastic about the various Cornell/Prewitt/Weimar schemes that included Sitka, Nome (!), and Mat Su as well as those others. There was some talk about Fairbanks, too, but legislators such as Bud Fate put the kibosh on that notion. Uncle Ted got the dough, almost, for the Gravina bridge, but Tom Coburn put a stop to it.

I thought that Frank M. tanked the Bank of the North, only. Were there other banks involved? Lindauer and Obermeyer posting on Wikipedia? Now there's a scary thought! Activist (talk) 05:54, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply
I went back and looked at what I had remembered about the connection between Lisa Murkowski and Bob Penney and Stevens' Girdwood "chalet." I was wrong. It was not Bob Penney who was involved in the note about the expansion of the Stevens home, it was Bob Persons. Sorry about that. Activist (talk) 21:21, 30 September 2013 (UTC)Reply

I was reading the page for Susan Lindauer, as her name came up in a search I did. It's an OK article, though I wasn't sure what to do with an ADN link for an article behind a paywall. I did insert the reporter's name and edited the URL. Then I hit on the link to her dad's page. I couldn't hardly believe it. There's almost nothing in there about his 1990 "campaign" for governor, when he stepped aside for Wally, very late in the game. There's only the briefest mention of his 1998 race for governor, nothing about Tony or Robin or Jerry (who also stepped aside, but for Coghill in 1990, only to join him again). I think that the page has been well scrubbed.

Hi. Please do not add unsourced material to articles, as you did with this edit to Sgt. Slaughter. Material in articles, especially that which goes to a subject's notability, must be accompanied by citations of secondary sources, which a veteran editor like you should know by now. The WWE's own website is not a secondary source, that's a primary source. In addition, those sources need to be in the article, and not in an edit summary. "The sky is blue" does not. Oogruk

edit

Good timing with the oogruk post. I'd just come across two Alaskan rivers that I was curious about. Is Anikovik River derived from anak (excrement) as is Anaktuvuk Pass? The other is Itkillik River. Would the use of Itkillik be derogatory or just a simple statement? Just noticed that could be spelt "itqiliq" in other dialects. One other thing. Do you know what the name would be for fermented seal fliipers? CBWeather, Talk, Seal meat for supper? 18:10, 18 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

My knowledge of Inupiaq is rather limited, but place names are often portmanteau words. I believe the ending "vik" or "vuk" refers to a place or direction. Ukpiaġvik is the place (Barrow) to hunt snowy owls. Kaktovik (on Barter Island) is the place of seine fishing. Anaktuvuk is the place of caribou droppings, and "anak" (prounounced "uhn-uck") refers to any excrement, the "tu" is from "tuttu" (caribou). I don't know what "anik" means; it might mean sister or brother. The name for fermented seal flippers is "utruk," I think. There are different dialects in Alaska, mostly divided by the North Slope and Kobuk river. Anaktuvuk is where the mountain Inupiat live. I was surprised to hear the difference in the pronunciation of word for the Kivgik festival, for instance, with the North Slope dialect compared to those coming from Kivilina. I think that generally the people from the northern tip of Greenland southwest to Unalakleet can understand each other more easily than Spanish speakers can understand Portuguese. Activist (talk) 21:00, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I should have remembered that anik means a "woman's brother", as it is used here also at the Inuktitut Living Dictionary. Can't link directly to the word. That shows it used in Siglitun, Labrador and Inuinnaqtun. Itqiliq means Cree/Dene or Indian (First Nations) but I don't think I have ever heard it used in any way other than an insult. It's in both the links as well. The dictionary gives several spellings for caribou, tuttu, tuttuk, tuttuq and the most common, tuktu. Most Inuinnaqtun speakers (Cambridge Bay, Kugluktuk, Ulukhaktok) will have no difficulty in understanding other dialects to the west but will say that they can't understand people further east. Sometimes you will hear people from one community complain that the other two communities don't speak Inuinnaqtun correctly. On the other hand my brother-in-law (Ulukhaktok) had no difficulty in picking up the dialect from Taloyoak. CBWeather, Talk, Seal meat for supper? 22:09, 16 May 2014 (UTC)Reply

Sylvia Sullivan

edit
I was trying to remember the name of the bag lady/creature from another planet who ran for US Senator and/or Governor in the late '90s. Was it Sylvia Sullivan? She may have been the first statewide candidate in Alaska to run her campaign from a shopping cart. I remember her on Ratnet, I think, being interviewed wearing a beret that was covered with some reflecting attachments. Every time she moved, they flashed from the camera lights. Either that, or she was getting signals through the fillings in her teeth and interference from them in the ether was causing those sparks. Then again, she may have been a plant to make Theresa Obermeyer look more "normal." Curious, I Googled her name and found this:

The last time I heard of anything like this happening, it was to the 1998 Alaska Independence Party (AIP) gubernatorial candidate, Sylvia Sullivan. She won the primary, but the party leadership disavowed her, refused to allow an AIP member to be on the ticket with her as Lt. Governor, and endorsed the GOP candidate instead. From the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner:

Aug. 28, 1998 — The Alaskan Independence Party has abandoned its gubernatorial candidate and endorsed the Republican Party’s ticket, saying its primary winner is neither viable nor "right for Alaska."

Sylvia Sullivan, the AIP candidate, disparaged the desertion Thursday and vowed to remain in the race.

The AIP’s state committee voted late Wednesday to endorse Republican John Lindauer and running mate Jerry Ward, who won Tuesday’s primary and were on the AIP ticket briefly in 1990. They also declined to name a candidate to the party’s vacant lieutenant governor slot on the November ballot. At first, I thought they rejected her because of her notoriously batshit behavior. I know first-hand of what I speak, as I ran into Sylvia online in 2005. She was quite the tinfoil hat wearer and ALLCAPS RANTER (her critics called her PSYLVIA PSULLIVAN). On the other hand, the AIP is a fringe party, and is hardly in a position to complain about oddball behavior.

My revised hypothesis is that Sylvia may have been too liberal for them. Check out her official page and notice all the "helping the little guy" credentials. I'm now more enamored of this idea, as the AIP is associated with the ultra-right Constitution Party, the direct descendant of George Wallace's American Independent Party.

Still, she did get 4,000 votes, I'm guessing from Todd Palin and other loopy Lou's who neglected to abide by cues to exit stage right. Despite the AIP endorsement, the Lindauer/Ward ticket got less votes than Robin Taylor, a future unindicted member of the CBC, in my estimation. Please feel free to erase these comments. I certainly did confuse the two. I had remembered that "Sylvia" was a nutcase who ran for statewide office, and I thought she was from Fairbanks, but when I read about Sylvia Sullivan from Valdez, I thought I'd just misremembered her home town. Who would have guessed that two different Sylvias fit that rare description and political history? Activist (talk) 06:48, 22 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Alaska Dispatch News article request for feedback

edit

Hi there,

I wrestled with the newly titled Alaska Dispatch News article (redirect from the ADN article). Could you take a look at the "Controvery" section and see if a better solution to a Wikipedia sourcing problem than that which I have used might replace mine? Before my edits, the section bordered on unreadable. Activist (talk) 20:39, 20 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

The new, official name of the paper is the "Alaska Dispatch News" This is an official name change, and I included a reference. Not sure about the controversy sections, etc. I don't like that section either but I left it alone, assuming good faith. Juneau Mike (talk) 05:40, 21 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

Mead Treadwell page

edit

I read the Treadwell page and it sounded like it had been written by his campaign. It's hagiographic. I mean, Mother Theresa wouldn't get such promotional writeup. Even George Washington chopped down a cherry tree. I see you did a lot of work on the article. Sullivan is beating up on him now, so I'm guessing there are some skeletons in Mead's closet that we'll see. What do you think? Activist (talk) 04:15, 7 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Per your old request about his name, I found this recent story. APRN had one as well. You're right about his name, but this Lisa Demer story helps avoid using primary sources to confirm that: http://www.adn.com/article/20140621/candidate-profile-treadwells-underdog-run-us-senate-draws-40-years-alaska-work Activist (talk) 21:46, 11 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

What bugs me about the AGF response is that most editors who seem to have better sense still accept that defense when the person making the anti-candidate or promotional edits claims to be NPOV. This is despite the fact that application of the "duck test" leads one with a high degree of confidence to assess them as paid p.r.stooges, working off a client list.

Thanks for your work on the Hamby page. Very interesting. Activist (talk) 10:20, 6 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

Alaska

edit

I have noticed you have changed my edit on the Alaska page. As you have pointed out, Byron Mallott was elected on Bill Walker's unity ticket. If you are not aware, a unity ticket is where two candidates from two different parties run together as running mantes. Mallott managed to secure the Democratic party's nomination for Governor. He chose, however, to merge his campaign with Walker and be his running mate. You stated that Bill Walker indentifies himself as a Republican, but he left the GOP to run for governor as an independant. You were correct in stating that Mallott is a known Democrat. However, states can have governors and lt. governors of different political parties. Walker and Mallott are no different. I would like to reference the List of current United States lieutenant governors page to you. There is are two maps on this page that have Alaska in blue, showing that Mallott is represented as a Democrat. Write back if you have any more questions. I would prefer not to get into an edit war. Jake Metcalfe, etc.

edit

I was looking at the page and checked the history. This is something I don't understand. There's an entry as if in an infobox, but it doesn't visibly show in the article. It indicates that Jake died in Austin, TX, two years ago. I'm not sure how he'd feel about that. The Mark Twain quote comes to mind. Activist (talk) 15:14, 11 February 2015 (UTC) Jake is very much alive, and "Patrice" is actually spelled correctly. She is otherwise known as "Sissy" Parker, married to Bill Parker. As usual, you do great work and thanks much. Activist (talk) 10:08, 12 February 2015 (UTC) Also checking out the top of your page and noticed the "baited breath." Found this: "The correct spelling is actually bated breath but it’s so common these days to see it written as baited breath that there’s every chance that it will soon become the usual form, to the disgust of conservative speakers and the confusion of dictionary writers. Examples in newspapers and magazines are legion; this one appeared in the Daily Mirror on 12 April 2003: “She hasn’t responded yet but Michael is waiting with baited breath”." I also wondered about "the town you've never heard of with three people," and thought it might be Chicken, which I've transversed en route to Eagle. Wikipedia says census 2010 was 7 people.Reply

I am back-the Governor of Alaska Bill Walker ordered the flags in Alaska to lower at half mast. According to the press release Bettisworth in the Alaska Legislature in 1957-1958 and 1981-1985. I checked the 100 years Alaska Legislature website and Bob Bettisworth served in the legislature from 1979-1984 which his obituary also stated. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, List of people from Canton, Ohio. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:People_from_Canton,_Ohio. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. AK pols cleanup

edit

Hi, again. I was editing some AK politicians pages and was trying to sort out Senate Districts. I found Hollis French's article to be in need of a great deal of work and cleaned it up as best I could, being a bit tight for time. I found that Ellis, French and Gardner were all listed simultaneously as minority leader. Then I went to Johnny Ellis' article and found that an editor had inserted his birth name as "Dennis William Egan." I expect the editor was rushing and on 23 March inserted that info. I went to his or her contribution page, and found that maybe 3,000 edits had been made subsequently, almost all of them regarding elected politicians from around the world or actors on the world stage (i.e. Victoria Nuland). A few of those edits followed yours that you made to Andy Josephson's article. I wonder if you could take a look at the edits made by him or her to see if they're correct? I had changed Johnny's supposed birth name to Johnny Ellis, but I'll go back and remove that rather than research it to make sure that's correct. Certainly, he's not Bill Egan's son with the same name by another mother. Thanks once again for all your great Alaskana work. Activist (talk) 07:54, 30 September 2015 (UTC)Reply

Well, you've been quiet so long I was quite surprised to get this much of a response. I figured you were probably busy as hell or burned out. Other than getting one, how does the PFD affect your life? I notice it's over $2,000 once again. Thanks for getting back to me. As usual, you're very helpful. I couldn't imagine how all that crap about French stayed on his (or for anyone's) article for so long... I was just appalled when I read it. I left the business about him claiming to be a marine, because I had no knowledge of the matter at all. I didn't know about the tenure issue. I knew that Johnny had served for quite some time, in the House before the Senate. I was surprised his article was so scanty. I also was aware that Lyman had served for a long time, but didn't recall how long. I knew of Hohman only by rep and through mutual (now long dead) friends, who liked him a lot and were distressed by his demise. When I started poking around in the AK legislators articles, and saw the succession for Johnny's seat, I was surprised not to see an article for Pat Pourchot, given his long and interesting career. Now Ogan, he was forgettable IMHO. I think a Vic Fischer article would be warranted too, but I'm hardly the one to do it. I wonder if Charles Wolforth edits Wikipedia? I don't know if what you're referring to is my comments on CA-23's talk page, but that's quite a district, which has wandered around central California like Moses in the desert. Keeping track of the incumbents from decades ago seems like a huge waste of time and server space. Activist (talk) 10:04, 2 October 2015 (UTC)Reply

Byron Mallott Party Affiliation

edit

So I recently changed Mallott's party affiliation in Template:Current Alaska statewide political officials to Democratic from Independent. You reverted this edit claiming that sources indicated he was a Democrat. Does this source that indicates he did not change his party registration to "undeclared" in order to run as an Independent suffice? http://www.adn.com/article/20140901/walker-mallott-join-forces-governors-race He is also listed on the Alaska Democratic Party's website (http://www.alaskademocrats.org/elected-officials/) though this he is listed along with Independent Governor Bill Walker.

Washington DC

edit

You have been mislead by Good olfactory's false accusations. The Germany issue is a red herring that has no relevance to Washington, DC. The District of Columbia existed in no way, shape, means or form in 1789. The only reason the Germany categories have some chance of surviving is because there was an idea of Germany before 1871. There was not any idea of Washington DC before 1790, and it was not actually created until after that date. In 1789 no one envisioned it, and actions in Georgetown were not in it. His ideas lead to placing Mosques built in 1789 as in Israel or actions done in the Indus Valley in 1789 as in Pakistan, although the person who invented that name would not be born for nearly a century. He uses one iffy issue, Germany, to try and falsely influence other places where it is 100% clear that there is no workable way to retroactively impose the modern name on the past.John Pack Lambert (talk) 06:25, 24 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

@Johnpacklambert:, this is a bit pointless carrying on this debate away from the discussion, but I think it would be helpful if you were more careful about the assumptions you make. User:RadioKAOS made their comments in the discussion before "Germany" was mentioned either by me or by anyone else, so it's impossible that they were misled by the issue at the time the comments were made. Stale drafts

edit

There is a rule that articles in draft space which have an {{AfC submission}} tag may be deleted if they have not been touched for more than six months. Unfortunately there is no rule for articles in that space without the tag but I think that the same rule should apply. I have put in User:RadioKAOS/stale drafts a list of yours - there may be others where you were not the last person to edit. (In fact having created it, I realise that list is small beer compared to the stuff in your user space.)

Another view is that keeping drafts without submitting could be considered to be using Wikipedia as a free host.

I hasten to say that in two respects you are not as bad as the two worst offenders I have seen: the number of articles is much smaller and you seem willing to discuss matters in a calm manner. Nevertheless I would like you to review your drafts and either submit them for mainspace or copy them off to your own machine. — RHaworth (talk · contribs) 15:48, 2 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Crittenden is by far the most significant Alaskan architect I have yet to write about. It seems more difficult to find projects of his than those of other practitioners, despite his influence. I do much of my research through Google Books, whose scans are often off. The name "Crittenden" is more often mixed up than "Foss" or "Manley". But, I do have a decent list going, and when I can get my hands on some solid biographical information, an article on him should be forthcoming.

And, I do appreciate the notes on some of the buildings, I need to be better noting current uses and such.JPRiley (talk) 19:56, 1 July 2016 (UTC)Reply

WP:RDH-style question

edit

In the lower 48, lots of ordinary things such as marriage licenses, property transfers, restaurant inspections by health departments, etc. are routinely handled by counties. Here in Virginia, all the non-county areas are cities, which are constitutionally required to perform such duties themselves or contract out with adjacent counties to do it, and I suppose the same is true in Baltimore, St. Louis, and Carson City, the other three independent cities nationwide. But what about in unincorporated places in the Unorganized Borough? Say you move to Tok and want to buy a house and get married. Do you have to phone some office in Juneau to get this stuff done? Any references would help to improve the article on the Unorganized Borough. Nyttend (talk) 01:58, 28 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Stubbs the cat

edit

The discussion at the AFD is closed, but I read your comment to me. I respect your experience and judgement, and I hope you respect mine. There are many editors, myself included, who disagreed with you and the general consensus was that it was notable. Unfortunately (at times), Wikipedia is a tertiary source which does in fact parrot secondary sources (WP:V, WP:SECONDARY). We go by what those secondary sources say is true, even if we believe it not to be (WP:TRUTH). The article about the cat makes it rather clear that it's a tourist gimmick (as are most animals with honorary positions like the cat at the Algonquin Hotel or Tama (cat). List of Alaskan aviators

edit

Hi RadioKAOS
I note that, back in January 2014, you objected to and reverted the deletion of unsourced names from the List of Alaskan aviators as seen in this diff.
The list currently has 119 names, of which 12 have articles, and 107 neither have articles, nor any references whatsoever (let alone references meeting WP:BIO i.e including "significant coverage", which is the requirement for such lists)
On 10 June 2017 I added the "alumni people" template to that article and explained the rules/guidelines for stand-alone lists on the talk page. I also proposed removing all names not complying with Wikipedia:Notability#Stand-alone lists and suggested allowing 2 months before so doing. It is now nearly 4 months later, and I propose carrying this out shortly.
The purpose of this post is to inform you of this, in case you wish to add references, before I delete 107/119 names. - Arjayay (talk) 09:01, 6 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

relocated buildings category

edit

Hi i noticed your adding a "relocated buildings" category to the Pioneer School House building article, an article which did not mention any relocation, and I revised the article to cover its moving, based on NRHP document. Are you working from some list/source of relocated buildings? There's this similar edit by you of the Alaska Native Medical Center, an article which mentions a relocation of the hospital programs and patients and staff to a different building but not any moving of a building. I wonder whether there is an unmentioned move of a building, or if you are using the term "relocated" differently? --Doncram (talk) 03:30, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hello

edit

Dear RadioKAOS. I thought I'd say hello and tell you how refreshing your comments are regarding pro wrestling. It's a little depressing (but not surprising) to see only one or two Wikipedians are interested in the "Territory-era". As an amateur researcher, I too share your feelings about the questionable research methods used when articles are proposed/nominated for deletion. For example, it took me five minutes to find a magazine article on Kangaroo Kennedy when it was deleted a few years ago. Lee Wyckoff, a rival of Everett Marshall during the 1930s, is another that caught my eye. I wonder if anyone bothered to search under the alternate spelling of "Wycoff"? Anyway, I appreciate your time. Sincerely, a fellow wrestling fan. 72.74.198.247 (talk) 08:25, 15 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Andrew Berg Cabin and other NRHP stuff

edit

Hey, I think you were referring to me with statement that "The nominator appears to lack understanding of the fact that encyclopedic content should cater to a general audience, not to the whims of active editors here to push their favorite topics". I don't get what you mean by that. In general I have a sense that you don't like short stub NRHP articles, and you might blame me for creating some in Alaska or elsewhere, though I believe my contributions in Alaska NRHP articles have been good (e.g. I always have included the good NRHP document as a source and should have always developed some substantial content). But your comment was within Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/South Portland Historic District, where I was objecting to the creation of a too-short-in-my view article. I would think you would agree with me there. If you care to explain, I don't mind hearing your unvarnished thoughts. But really, I do think the development of NRHP articles in Alaska is generally good, and has in general supported other Alaska coverage.

About the NRHP-listed Andrew Berg Cabin built in 1902, about which you commented, please see Talk:Andrew Berg Cabin. By the way, is there or should there be an article about the non-NRHP visitor center or museum where the 1935 cabin is now located? I currently think the 1935 cabin and other Andrew Berg cabins should be covered in the Andrew Berg article, with only the 1902 NRHP-listed one split out. Do comment there. --Doncram (talk) 01:12, 22 August 2018 (UTC)Reply

WP:Verifiability

Above the edit box on every page it clearly says "Encyclopedic content must be verifiable." If it's too much work for you to provide sources for material you add to the encyclopedia, maybe you should find another hobby. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 06:30, 5 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Is there any rhyme or reason to this? RadioKAOS criticizes everyone, but when there are good faith and well enunciated critiques of him, utter silence. No response of any kind. It's as though any criticism is beneath any response from him. Wikipedia doesn't need this type of arrogance among its editors. I would be happy to collaborate with him. I've complimented him several times. I've publically thanked him for edits. And what do I get in return? Constant and vigorous criticism. He follows my every post, even responding on the pages of editors - and in one case, an admin - who I merely let know about a new article. RadioKAOS abused the revert tool, when he and I had a simple disagreement about how to rate an articles importance, and he suggested I should have reviewed numerous years of discussion on the related WikiProject. All of this drama, and abuse of the revert tool, over me rating an article mid importance, and he thought it should be high? I'm not sure where his intellectual arrogance comes from. I try to act the opposite. I make mistakes, but I always assume editors act in good faith. With RadioKAOS, who refuses to acknowledge any mistakes, or any other point of view, it's difficult. If he can't show any more respect than he currently does to other editors, than he needs a long timeout from Wikipedia. I don't say that lightly. Juneau Mike (talk) 00:06, 7 December 2018 (UTC)Reply

Bird or Draft:Bird Creek, Alaska

A community called Bird is mentioned in a couple articles. But all I could find was Bird Creek. Is it connected in some way with the area I added as a see also? Thanks for any insights. FloridaArmy (talk) 02:10, 17 January 2019 (UTC)Reply

(talk page stalker) Late reply, but I would also try looking for resources on Bird Point. This place very much does exist, but I'm fairly certain it is entirely within the Municipality of Anchorage. I was in a car accident in this area a few years back and my trashed truck was towed into Bird. Or Bird Creek, or Bird Point... Pretty much all the same please I believe. Alaska Highway

Sorry about that. The usual formula has been that state projects' importance levels are normally one level lower than the road projects' importance. In that case, the road projects' importance levels were set too high, and I just adjusted the others per the usual formula. It's fine to disagree, but it would be nice if you wouldn't make comments about editors in edit summaries in the future. In short, comment about edits, not editors. Hi, thanks for your comment on the Anthony J. Hilder article's 2nd nomination for deletion. It is true what you said about the 1st nomination, just a blind following on a couple of the voters there. Thank you for your comment. I do skimmed through the DYK articles and make edits as need be. I would start articles to supplement information mentioned in the DYK articles. The Eileen MacLean article was started; Eileen MacLean was an Alaska state legislator and therefore was notable. I also have started articles about unincorporated communities involving notable people were born and lived in the communities. As for the Tara Sweeney article; her mother Eileen MacLean was mentioned and I thought an article was needed. The Eileen MacLean article was not a coatrack article. I would encouraged you to express your concerns about the DYK articles to the DYK talk page. If you feel the DYK section needs to be revised or discontinued then please express your concerns and comments to the DYK page. Thank you-RFD (talk) 10:01, 12 February 2019 (UTC)Reply

Hey RadioKAOS. Just wondering what your take is on this discussion. I also noticed the AWA isn't considered notable enough to include in 1985 in professional wrestling. If you check the history, somebody wrote a much more detailed timeline before it was replaced by the current one. Among the events removed under "WP:TRIVIA" is the first Wrestlemania, Black Saturday, the David Schultz-John Stossel incident, etc. 131.109.225.38 (talk) 17:27, 17 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

I think you know I know how many NWA World Championships Race won. But I think you know the NWA isn't a single promotion. Speedy deletion nomination of Category:1904 disestablishments in Alaska

edit

A tag has been placed on Category:1904 disestablishments in Alaska requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Advice on first article?

edit

Hi RadioKAOS. I recently posted an article on Wikipedia:Sandbox about George Cannon's "Superstars of Wrestling" program which was nationally syndicated in Canada (and parts of the U.S.) during the 1970s and early 80s. Would you consider taking a look at it if you have time? I only know of two or three other Wikipedians with an interest in Territory-era wrestling and I'd really appreciate any feedback or suggestions you could give me. The show isn't very well documented and the article doesn't have as many print sources as I would like. By the way, I don't suppose you ever saw the show while living in Alaska? The show aired in Vancouver on CKVU although I'm not sure how far the signal travelled. The station in Windsor, for example, was powerful enough to reach Toledo, Ohio in the late 1970s. Thanks for your time. 173.162.220.17 (talk) 19:13, 30 December 2019 (UTC)Reply

Alaska redistricting

edit

Hi there. Thanks for your attention to detail. The source states: "the legislature draws congressional lines." So I think that means the Alaska state legislators elected in 2020 could impact congressional redistricting. -- M2545 (talk) 18:01, 10 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

@M2545: I looked over that source again. While that particular page implies a role by the legislature, it contains a link to a sister page on the same site which correctly refers to the redistricting board and its role. That page refers to Article VI, § 8 of the state constitution, which is found here. A web search for "alaska redistricting board" produced a series of high-quality hits which affirm all of the above. This is representative, though it hasn't been updated to reflect the current cycle.
It's the overall history which may be lacking, typical of what Google and the like will feed you. In Alaska, the legislature has never had a role. Prior to the 1998 amendments, redistricting power was held solely by the governor, who relied upon an advisory board. It was never highly politicized at first. That changed first through intervention by the feds with Reynolds v. Sims and the Voting Rights Act, then later through intervention by the state Supreme Court. Following a slew of court cases, there was already talk of overhauling the system by the time of the second governorship of Wally Hickel. His choice of Tuckerman Babcock to manage the board was controversial enough to perhaps influence enough legislators to favor offering those amendments to voters.
Congressional redistricting is irrelevant in Alaska. Montana lost its second House seat after the 1990 Census and that state has half again as many residents as Alaska. In other words, it'll take a long time or will require drastic circumstances before a second House seat is even a thought. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 19:54, 10 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
It might take some searching to find a definitive source explaining pre-1998 redistricting. This is the first major redistricting-related court case in Alaska and covers a lot of that ground. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 20:13, 10 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
Aha, got it. Didn't know all that. Thanks so much for the helpful explanation! -- M2545 (talk) 21:03, 10 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Revert at Alaska Airlines

edit

Per WP:CV#Addressing contributors and WP:Contributor copyright investigations/Ardfern, there is authorization and consensus that If contributors have been shown to have a history of extensive copyright violation, it may be assumed that all of their major contributions are likely to be copyright violations, and they may be removed indiscriminately. We have found many copyright violations on airline histories from Ardfern, and thus it is safe to assume that excessively detailed or creative content from them is copied from old issues of Flight International and Airline World. Someone with those issues has confirmed violations enough so that we have presumptively deleted from many airlines. I would feel more comfortable if someone else rewrote the content; I am not a content writer and I cannot write at a GA standard, but this should be reworded as soon as possible considering it is a likely copyvio. I'm going to look around so I have a better understanding of the taxononic business - this sort of lumping happens from time to time, but I can't tell if it's real yet, and in any case we don't need to knee-jerk change the common names when there's a perfectly good redirect, assuming the taxonomy is valid. But I'll do that when I have a little time, have eaten, etc. so as not to be hasty. My first reaction was to revert all, which might just compound the apparent error. I'll also ask Primefac. Anchorage Cathedral

edit

"If you expect me to contribute the photo(s) you requested, you should knock off this WP:OWN bullshit. This is a photo of the place in question. Why are so many people around here obsessed with style over substance?"

I requested a photo of the cathedral. I did not request a photo of people standing in the cathedral where you cannot see the cathedral. The article is not about the people in the photo or the event. You cannot be so dense as to think they are the same thing. Common sense dictates that the photo in the infobox should be a photo of the place the page is about. Instead there is a photo of three people who are not directly associated with the place (the archbishop is now in Seattle). If you cannot provide what was requested, fine. There was no expectation that you would, it was simply a request because you uploaded a photo of another Anchorage church. There are several other Wikipedia pages across various languages that could use a photo of the cathedral. I thought you might be able to help so I reached out to you. The photo in question is not even your work or your upload and yet you're going to throw a hissy fit? Grow up and forget the request. You're not worth the time or the effort. A way to cite lists of school districts by census area

edit

Hi! I found the U.S. Census Bureau has text lists of each school district that has territory in each Alaska census area.

These would be useful to cite in articles about census areas. WhisperToMe (talk) 20:31, 20 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Havelock

edit

Thanks for your assistance with the John E. Havelock article that I'd started in the AFC workspace. I've removed the article from AFC to normal Wikipedia space, dropping the middle initial. Hopefully some "mother's basement" editor won't have a shitfit. I had no idea that creating an article in the AFC workspace was voluntary. Activist (talk) 17:16, 14 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Hallo, I saw your edit summary on Naknek, Alaska: there is no mention of Naknek in Jay Hammond's article. If you can add reliably sourced info about his connection to Naknek, please do so and then add him to the Naknek article. Thanks. PamD 05:59, 22 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Possible deletion of Vehicle registration plates of the United States for 2021

edit

Hi! I noticed that you have edited some of the articles in the "Vehicle registration" series of articles in the past. The 2021 article is up for deletion, which means that the entire series of articles might end up being deleted. I'd appreciate it if you would weigh in on the discussion at the following link to "Keep" the article.

Do not post nonsensical attacks on other editors or you will be blocked. This refers to Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Draft:Philip Cross (Wikipedia Editor). Johnuniq (talk) 04:00, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Johnuniq: Spare me the bullshit. This was not a "nonsensical attack". This was an observation of long-term problematic editing behavior. It's plainly obvious that the community is content to excuse it away because it's being done under color of adminship. Every single time I've attempted to intervene, Liz's default response amounts to pointless argumentation. The last problematic deletion to come across my watchlist was of a valid cross-namespace redirect (an entry which began as a draft and was subsequently published in article space) deleted under false claim of G13. Most of the others I've observed were of maintenance and project categories because they were empty, ignoring that such categories are occasionally empty by their nature and are tagged as such through use of a template. If you or any other admin has the fortitude to address these problems, please feel free to get back to me for any information you may need, as I'm sure I could come up with a laundry list of damage done to this project through this behavior. Otherwise, I'm very busy these days with other projects and with paying work and need to spend my limited time on here engaging in more productive pursuits. Wikipedia has procedures for resolving disputes. Like real life, the procedures are often ineffective but stuff like WP:DR and WP:ANI are about all we have. You will be blocked if you repeat attacks on other editors. If you cannot tell that what you wrote here was an attack, you should not contribute at Wikipedia. Alaska Women's Hall of Fame

edit

Regarding your edit summary comments at Alaska Women's Hall of Fame, "Partially correcting the primary maintainer's attempt to build this list as a walled garden. I have plenty of free-content images I could contribute, but it's pretty pointless given the way this has been curated thus far".

Believe me, I would be thrilled to have you take over and do this for Alaska - or any other such list on Wikipedia. And do it however you think it should be done. I have no objections at all. About once a year, I go through the women's halls of fame on Wikipedia and update if no one else has. Sometimes I do feel like the lone updater on these lists, as more often than not no one else is maintaining them. But it's not intentional on my part. If you want to be the primary updater on Alaska, you have my enthusiastic encouragement to do so. — Maile (talk) 16:59, 25 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Moving the project forward as a credible, factually accurate information resource

edit

From your edit here [6], on Chancy Croft, with partial edit summary "What did you think you were trying to accomplish here that's going to move this project forward as a credible, factually accurate information resource?"

  1. making sure Wikipedia does not contain unsourced claims of death in biographies [7]
  2. copying your reference from an edit summary into the actual article [8]
  3. not leaving snarky comments to other editors who are doing the work

You've been here long enough to know better on all three counts. Even seasoned editors can become dispirited and disengage if they see too much laziness and incivility among others in the community. Meares Glacier

edit

Hi, I'd like to explain my edit to Meares Glacier (the one that removed one of the two stub templates). From WP:STUB: If an article overlaps several stub categories, more than one template may be used, but it is strongly recommended that only those relating to the subject's main notability be used. However, it goes on to say A limit of three or, if really necessary, four stub templates is advised. I amy have been overzealous in removing the second stub template. My apologies. Jules Strongbow

edit

Hi RadioKAOS. I noticed your message on Talk:NWA Hollywood Wrestling and thought you might be interested to know someone created an article on the original Jules Strongbow at Draft:John Bilbo (wrestler). I've done a bit of work on it, and I'd say he's a very notable figure in pro wrestling history, but thought someone who knows what they're doing should take a look. From what I know, Strongbow was tied in with the California Combine for a long time, particularly the Eatons and Hugh Nichols. I believed he stopped promoting for the group due to ill health around 1973-74. 173.162.220.17 (talk) 21:41, 14 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Wwe ppv attendance figures

edit

Hello can you please take a look at the edits from the user Czello to all the WWE attendance figures for wrestlemanias that have many sources and different numbers everywhere like Wrestlemania 3 page without,he said got consensus when there was clearly an opposition including you and me and other users, all i’m asking from him to put a note that those figures are disputed not to remove them completely putting a dave meltzer number like 78K for wrestlemania 3 as a fact and not even disputed doesn’t make sense By the way it was well known around 2007, users started to go back and forth editing the WM 3 article to reflect the two conflicting figures. It got bad enough that the event’s entry is listed as one of the site’s “lamest edit wars,” and it has been reverted back like it was for years and a disputed note was put for the pagehttps://www.newspapers.com/article/18111087/95000_to_attend_wrestlemania_gannett/ https://www.newspapers.com/article/18110973/pro_wrestling_cashing_in_with/ https://www.newspapers.com/article/18110397/column_mentions_88000/ from 85K to 88K to 93K Wrestlemania 32,dave meltzer himself changed his ’source’ many times about this he once repored it was 94K and 97Khttps://twitter.com/bryanalvarez/status/716892368188780548? https://twitter.com/bryanalvarez/status/717104250149425154

https://tjrwrestling.net/news/report-actual-wrestlemania-32-attendance-number-still-breaks-old-record/ All those numbers are disputed,no number is exactly real i think we should put the common attendance figure which is on 99,99% in websites and put a note that it is disputed not the other way around he said there was no opposition to what he is doing when it clearly is please follow this issue and i’m a big fan of that user but his timing of doing all of this before AEW ALL in wembley is so suspicious like you mention here on this talk page on wikiproject,i hope you continue the discussion here: Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Professional wrestling wwe attendance figures talk you left one comment there Bigboss9893 (talk) 18:35, 19 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Our Lady of Guadalupe Cathedral (Anchorage, Alaska)

edit

Hello there, RadioKAOS. Can you explain this edit for me? It seems like the article does not rely on any primary sources, but perhaps I am missing something. Arbitrarily0 (talk) 02:43, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Arbitrarily0: The Catholic Anchor was the official newspaper of the Archdiocese of Anchorage, so it absolutely fails any definition of a third-party source. When the current archdiocese was created several years ago, they created a new official newspaper and scrubbed any references to former publications. Therefore, Google won't feed you low-hanging fruit, but you'll still find mentions of the Anchor as such. Considering that the article on Holy Family was renamed at a time when the ONLY reference to that name was the parish's Facebook page, I believe our coverage of the Catholic Church deserves more scrutiny than it's been given. RFA2024 update: no longer accepting new proposals in phase I

edit

Hey there! This is to let you know that phase I of the 2024 requests for adminship (RfA) review is now no longer accepting new proposals. Lots of proposals remain open for discussion, and the current round of review looks to be on a good track towards making significant progress towards improving RfA's structure and environment. I'd like to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has given us their idea for change to make RfA better, and the same to everyone who has given the necessary feedback to improve those ideas. The following proposals remain open for discussion:

  • Proposal 2, initiated by HouseBlaster, provides for the addition of a text box at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship reminding all editors of our policies and enforcement mechanisms around decorum.
  • Proposals 3 and 3b, initiated by Barkeep49 and Usedtobecool, respectively, provide for trials of discussion-only periods at RfA. The first would add three extra discussion-only days to the beginning, while the second would convert the first two days to discussion-only.
  • Proposal 5, initiated by SilkTork, provides for a trial of RfAs without threaded discussion in the voting sections.
  • Proposals 6c and 6d, initiated by BilledMammal, provide for allowing users to be selected as provisional admins for a limited time through various concrete selection criteria and smaller-scale vetting.
  • Proposal 7, initiated by Lee Vilenski, provides for the "General discussion" section being broken up with section headings.
  • Proposal 9b, initiated by Reaper Eternal, provides for the requirement that allegations of policy violation be substantiated with appropriate links to where the alleged misconduct occured.
  • Proposals 12c, 21, and 21b, initiated by City of Silver, Ritchie333, and HouseBlaster, respectively, provide for reducing the discretionary zone, which currently extends from 65% to 75%. The first would reduce it 65%–70%, the second would reduce it to 50%–66%, and the third would reduce it to 60%–70%.
  • Proposal 13, initiated by Novem Lingaue, provides for periodic, privately balloted admin elections.
  • Proposal 14, initiated by Kusma, provides for the creation of some minimum suffrage requirements to cast a vote.
  • Proposals 16 and 16c, initiated by Thebiguglyalien and Soni, respectively, provide for community-based admin desysop procedures. 16 would desysop where consensus is established in favor at the administrators' noticeboard; 16c would allow a petition to force reconfirmation.
  • Proposal 16e, initiated by BilledMammal, would extend the recall procedures of 16 to bureaucrats.
  • Proposal 17, initiated by SchroCat, provides for "on-call" admins and 'crats to monitor RfAs for decorum.
  • Proposal 18, initiated by theleekycauldron, provides for lowering the RfB target from 85% to 75%.
  • Proposal 24, initiated by SportingFlyer, provides for a more robust alternate version of the optional candidate poll.
  • Proposal 25, initiated by Femke, provides for the requirement that nominees be extended-confirmed in addition to their nominators.
  • Proposal 27, initiated by WereSpielChequers, provides for the creation of a training course for admin hopefuls, as well as periodic retraining to keep admins from drifting out of sync with community norms.
  • Proposal 28, initiated by HouseBlaster, tightens restrictions on multi-part questions.

To read proposals that were closed as unsuccessful, please see Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review/Phase I/Closed proposals. You are cordially invited once again to participate in the open discussions; when phase I ends, phase II will review the outcomes of trial proposals and refine the implementation details of other proposals. Another notification will be sent out when this phase begins, likely with the first successful close of a major proposal. Happy editing! theleekycauldron (talk • she/her), via:

Hi there! Phase I of the Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/2024 review has concluded, with several impactful changes gaining community consensus and proceeding to various stages of implementation. Some proposals will be implemented in full outright; others will be discussed at phase II before being implemented; and still others will proceed on a trial basis before being brought to phase II. The following proposals have gained consensus:

Thanks for replying there, but I don't believe you actually answered the question being asked. We need to know whether you're opposing just the national monuments nominations, or also the national forest nominations. Hey man im josh (talk) 13:11, 4 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
@RadioKAOS, I've pinged you four times at WP:CFDS asking you to clarify this, and this is the second time I'm bringing this up here. Can you PLEASE just tell us whether you're ONLY objecting to renaming of the national monument categories, or are you also objecting to the national forest category and other national renamings as well? It's been a bit over two weeks now waiting on your answer and this is rather frustrating when trying to figure out whether these categories are to be processed or sent to CFD. Stu Hart

edit

The only image of Stu Hart on his Commons category is of him as a baby, the other image is of his parents. I don't think that makes for a reasonable replacement to this file. ★Trekker (talk) 16:21, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@StarTrekker: Your desire or anyone else's desire to make an article look a certain way does not supersede the high bar that exists for the inclusion of non-free content. For that matter, the cessation of proactive enforcement of that high bar doesn't give other editors a pass. either. Between File:Wrestler Stu Hart wearing an amateur wrestling championship belt, sometime between 1933 and 1936.jpg and File:Stu Hart circa 2001.jpg, unless sourced critical commentary accompanies its inclusion, having both in the article means that one is purely decorative. Since the latter file was added without a fair use rationale specific to the article, removing it was a no-brainer. That leaves the former file. It appears in the thumbnail included when Google returns predictive search results. If that's because of its presence in the Wikipedia infobox, that would be a real problem copyright-wise. That's far beyond the scope of this discussion, however. Very relevant to this discussion is the outcome of a pair of deletion requests on Commons. It was revealed that many hundreds of wrestling magazines are in the public domain, with many of them hosted at Internet Archive. I've left comments at WT:PW multiple times describing the process at various points in time. Once again, the inclusion of non-free content is supposed to be subject to a high bar, irrespective of enforcement. For editors to ignore all that and continue to pick the lower-hanging fruit is indefensible and reprehensible. You're not exhausting all opportunities to find free content, rather you're scavenging the easiest stuff you find on the web and hoping you don't get called out on it.
