Lovers Lane, Dallas, Texas
editArticles like Midway Road, Dallas, Texas and Knox Street, Dallas, Texas used to exist.. but they were all deleted as non-notable. If you click on either of those links, you'll see the deletion log. I wouldn't suggest creating an article on a specific road unless it's really notable.. like Preston Road (which already exists).. though it should have a separate article since SH 289 and Preston Road are not co-extensive (which is explained in the lead of Texas State Highway 289). -- drumguy8800 C T 22:25, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
- If you check out Amazon Dallas streets there are several publications that include informaiton on streets in Dallas. If you developed an article on the
history of notable streets in Dallas Texas by using material from books, I think people would be hard pressed to delete such an article. -- Jreferee (Talk) 04:42, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Mayer
editYou're very welcome. I agree that Mayer was overdue for an article. Obviously, much more biographical detail can be added to Mayer's article - It's hardly more than a list of credits right now, so please do read some of his interviews that are online and see if you can improve it. Also, I did not spend the time necessary to find out much about his off-broadway work. I bet more could be said about how he started out directing, why he chose the projects that he chose, etc. Thanks, but I'll pass on the database. Best regards, -- Ssilvers 15:36, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

editThanks for your edits. :) Have you any interest in adding articles for the red links? If you do, I offer my help (to do some of the books). Yodaat 00:33, 3 July 2007 (UTC)

South Dallas
editHi, Lawikitejana, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
Thanks for your August 6 note on my talk page. I wonder if you got an e-mail I sent you a few weeks ago, in response to your earlier post on my page acknowledging my inclusion of Stanley Marcus in your "Graduates of Dallas ISD" category--based on the content of your more recent post it seems that perhaps you didn't. I sent it via the "E-mail this user" link on your talk page, so if it didn't reach you, I won't be using that feature in the future! Anyway, I wanted to be sure you didn't think I was ignoring you!
Since you read my LOOOOOONG bio, you already know I'm a fellow DISD grad. My mother and both brothers are as well, and both of my parents taught for many years in the district (my dad, being a music teacher, got shuttled around so often in his teaching assignments he must have taught at close to a dozen Dallas schools). Also, my mother grew up in South Dallas (Peabody Ave.--attended John Henry Brown School and Forest Ave. HS), and my dad lived in the same neighborhood from 1940 until the late '50s. My dad is now deceased, but my mom lives with my wife and me now. So--I have a wealth of South Dallas historical info at my fingertips, as it were. Unfortunately, there's that "original research" issue, so I can't just transcribe her reminiscences into an article!!
You mentioned your DMN access via your library card. Well, strangely enough, I also have the same access via my San Antonio Public Library card! I've been referring a great deal to articles from the old DMN archives in my wiki editing. I've also been reading a lot of Dallas history books lately. I don't know if you're familiar with some of these, but if not I'll bet you'd enjoy some of them. . . . Rose-Mary Rumbley (who ought to have her own wiki article, I think--hmmmm.....) wrote The Unauthorized History of Dallas, Texas and Dallas Too; A Light in the Prairie by Gerry Cristol, which is a history of Temple Emanu-El, has a lot about the old neighborhoods; there's They Came to Stay by Rose Biderman; Merchant Princes by Leon Harris (of the Sanger-Harris Harrises); and In Jewish Texas: A Family Memoir by Stanley E. Ely (whose brother my mom dated at one time!). (I also just bought a copy of The Lusty Texans of Dallas but haven't gotten around to reading it yet.) . . . SO--there's a lot of information out there, in published form, and if I can find the time, over time I may be able to contribute some worthwhile stuff to South Dallas.
Oh, and just for the record: when I put that "personal knowledge" remark on the Skyline talk page, I was very much a newbie--that was about 1600 edits ago, and some six days after I first registered. I would never openly admit to such a thing now! (wink) Also for the record: Kyle Gann (whose article you've done some nice editing on) was one of my closest friends in high school. For what it's worth, I think he made some excellent points when he bowed out as a wiki editor. The OR rules are great in principle, but I do think the enforcers can sometimes go a bit overboard in their enthusiasm. (Let's just say phrases like "tail wagging the dog" and "throwing out the baby with the bath water" became clichés for a reason.)
Now I'm taking up your whole talk page. Anyway, thanks, and kudos for all your fine work on Wikipedia. Emoll 15:48, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
David Leeson
editHi Lawikitejana. You are off to such a great start on the article David Leeson that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. The Main Page gets about 4,000,000 hits per day and appearing on the Main Page may help bring publicity and assistance to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created and if you haven't already done so, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. If you do nominate the article for DYK, please cross out the article name on the "Good" articles proposed by bot list. Also, don't forget to keep checking back at Did you know suggestions for comments regarding your nomination. Again, great job on the article. -- JayHenry 05:11, 10 August 2007 (UTC)
DYK
editThanks for the message about images for this article (nice work BTW). Read all the guidance at Wikipedia:Non-free content. If you think use of the photo's qualifies as fair use then download them and adjust the resolution by resizing in Photoshop or whatever graphics editing program you use. The question of what is "low resolution" is always up for debate, but I seem to recall reading some recent guidelines suggesting that the longest side of an image should not exceed 350px, but I can't find it right now.
Fair use guidelines have tightened up a lot in the last year and some of my images are in excess of this, so I'll work my way through them to adjust. I'd suggest sticking to the 350px guideline.
Once you have resized the image, upload it adding the appropriate tags, most likely {{Non-free historic image}} and {{Non-free fair use in}}. Make sure it provides details of the source, the author or copyright holder, and that it has a valid fair use rationale. You can either write one yourself or use the template {{Non-free use rationale}}, filling in the parameters to suit. Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline gives useful guidance on this.
I hope that helps, but let me know if you need further input. Cheers. --Cactus.man ✍ 07:05, 11 August 2007 (UTC)
Can you please assist in improving this article? I noticed that you have expressed interest before on the talk page in 2006. However, I have tried to make some improvements, but a member from the sorority has previously tried to own it due to conflict of interests see talk page. She retired due to several "misunderstandings" see the this has re-emerged as User:HistoricDeltaSigmaTheta. The trouble is, I (at least) don't have access to Shaped to Its Purpose, and am not a member of this organization. I tried to do what I could to it, various improvements, added refs, pics from commons, additional research. I will be watching this page, so you don't have to respond here. Cheers. - Actually, I'm not a member, either. As I recall, I ended up editing that article a little bit after editing a biographical article on some well-known member. So unfortunately, I'm not in a position to do any better than you. I wish I were, as there are a couple of articles on which I've had similar problems with other editors (am going to go check out the "WP:OWN" link from your message) and would gladly have had some help. Best wishes to you. Lawikitejana 05:54, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, I am working on Alpha Kappa Alpha, and some of the Delta Sigma Theta founders were part of Alpha Kappa Alpha (hence the cession from the sorority). I have to make pages for 7 of the 22 founders, but so little information is available. I have done so much research for the article, found pictures which I uploaded to commons, and have made the article as neutral as possible (it failed GA, because of lack of sources, red links, etc.) to make this ultimately a FA before Jan 15th (the sorority's 100th anniversary). Thanks so much for responding. Miranda 08:49, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
Wikimania in Atlanta!
editHi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!
P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 22:39, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:William's Doll-HCpic-9780064430678.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:William's Doll-HCpic-9780064430678.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 19:51, 24 October 2007 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Retarded Policeman, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because it is an article about a certain website, blog, forum, or other web content that does not assert the importance or significance of that web location. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles, as well as notability guidelines for websites. Please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources which verify their content.
Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait a while for you to add contextual material, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page, and put a note on Talk:Retarded Policeman. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Thanks. Caknuck (talk) 17:15, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
Wil Wheaton's family
editWith regards to this edit, I removed the parental and children variables from the infobox on the guidance from the infobox itself; from {{infobox actor}}: "Insert the names of the actor's notable children [or parents], meaning those children [or parents] who meet Wikipedia's notability criteria independently of this actor." — pd_THOR | =/\= | 04:41, 10 December 2007 (UTC)
- Makes sense. I wonder if adding one of those hidden comments (the ones with the arrows and hyphens) into the infobox template would help; i.e., the comment could advise that those sections are to be filled in only when the family members are notable in their own right. At any rate, thanks for the explanation. Lawikitejana (talk) 13:26, 10 December 2007 (UTC)

Way to go -- I suspect the person interffering may have been the subject of the article. DavidOaks (talk) 01:24, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, I'd doubt it ... while it's not unheard of, you'd be amazed how dedicated some fans are about pulling anything from a page they think besmirches their star's reputation (such as any mention of the fact that a specific celebrity's orientation is widely discussed — granted, it's an area in which one has to stay away from rumor, gossip sites, and irrelevancy, but for many stars, the discussion is so commonplace that totally omitting it from Wikipedia comes off as ludicrous). Davis herself comes off in virtually all public mentions of her response as not wanting people to exaggerate, but as not at all ashamed of participation in the charity event or of having flipped up her skirt, etc.; her publicist specifically mentions in at least one story the amount of money that was raised. Thanks for the support all the same! Lawikitejana (talk) 01:49, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Raggedy Ann article
editHi! I see you reverted the article again. I reverted because you removed the tag. Changing the name of the section does not alter the fact that it is a trivia section. The banner you see for a trivia section "Trivia sections are discouraged ......" is there to inform editors that the article requires more work and the trivia section should be incorporated into the the main body of the article. In this case, I think the first two points in the section could definately be put in elsewhere. BTW, "... in popular culture" is a old trick, which, these days, no editors are blind to.
I placed a link in the edit summary to the MoS for section headings but, in this case, I don't really think it is worth changing the section heading again. I can't imagine any links pointing to it!

RE: Stanley Marcus
editGood. I'm glad to hear that you'll be making changes, as it is really frustrating to spend half an hour (sometimes more!) reading through an article...just to get no response. The only way that I know of to see how long an article is to click the HISTORY tab at the top of the article. That shows the article size after every revision. Your article is currently at 31,142 bytes. Nikki311 00:04, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know if the lead is the best place for a quote at all. I'd put the quote in a new section and just mention the award in the lead. I'll go through some GAs and FAs tomorrow and find a good example of a lead for a biography. Nikki311 02:54, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Don't worry about it...take your time. I won't fail the article, because I know you are trying. I'm sorry I haven't had a chance to find some lead examples yet. I've had some other projects to finish up first and haven't had the time. I will get to it, though! Nikki311 21:22, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
- Okay. I had never seen an FA with a quote, but now that I have...I'm convinced it's okay for you to keep it in. Thanks for providing those examples, as that will help with my reviewing in the future. I've finally gotten around to looking for some lead examples. Here's what I've got:
- John Michael Wright: Does a good job of both describing his career, as well as why he is notable
- Harold Innis
- George Washington (inventor): includes some of his early life in the lead
- Kylie Minogue
- After looking through a bunch of those, I think the lead should be formatted like this: a paragraph explaining who he is, a paragraph summarizing his life and career, and a paragraph summarizing why he is so great. What do you think? Nikki311 22:36, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

I can help write it, I don't mind. I have some other things to get to first, but then I'll write on up for you. If you like it, cool. If not, then it might give you a starting place that you can just add or remove stuff from. Nikki311 01:09, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
I have no idea. Maybe it just needs a few days to update or something? Nikki311 20:43, 17 June 2008 (UTC)
Stanley Marcus
editHola, Lawikitejana. As part of the WP:GAU survey, I asked if you wanted feedback on your writing. I couldn't tell from your answer whether you did or not...did you? (Feel free to reply here.) - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 00:38, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- Sure, why not? The only reason I answered the way I did was that the survey so far preceded any feedback, yet it seemed to ask my opinion of the feedback I received. :) Lawikitejana (talk) 02:13, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I can get to that this week. I was challenged on my interpretation of the results of the WP:GAU survey, I just wanted to make sure. That's definitely the right answer :) There are a few people who like to go around saying that people put up with the style guidelines and with article reviewers because they have to, but that everyone knows they're full of it, but I'm seeing no evidence of massive disaffection. That was one result of the survey. - Dan Dank55 (talk)(mistakes) 02:38, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Music in Adventist Churches
editHello, you had asked about a capella music and the lack of instrumental accompaniment in Seventh-day Adventist churches. I didn't see anyone had replied so I thought I'd give it a shot. Adventists have no qualms about using instruments in their worship and find no Biblical reason to avoid them (perhaps just the opposite in fact - example 2 Samuel 6:5). You'd be hard pressed to find a church in North America that didn't have one or more of piano/organ/keyboard.
So what you describe or heard would be considered unusual for Adventists. There are differences in style between churches however. I know Adventist churches in the metroplex that would be uncomfortable with live drums being used, yet others have a permanent set of drums in their sanctuary. But with the dozens of Adventist churches in the metropex, one can choose the style that fits their needs. Regards Sdenny123 (talk) 12:54, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

editSure and it's my pleasure - I'm just quick on the draw.
The best thing, I find, about stubs, is just to take a shot in the dark and see what results. Like "physicist-stub"; I figured there might just be enough American physicists to warrant their own stub. Keep hitting the preview button until you find the one that works. For instance: no "US-physicist-stub"? Try "physicist-stub", then "US-scientist-stub", etc. That usually works. --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 18:40, 21 March 2009 (UTC)
John Cotton notability
editThis is about this edit to W. T. White High School. While notability of an individual can be established on another page (like the high school page), it's usually much easier to establish it on a page for the individual- for instance, on John G. Cotton. That way CSDs and AFDs can be filed, talk pages can be used, and all of that. Do you mind creating a page for him, since (I assume) you are fairly familiar with him? tedder (talk) 17:22, 11 April 2009 (UTC)

editAdded template for SuggestBot
editHi,
Thanks for being one of SuggestBot's users! I hope you have found the bot's suggestions useful.
We are in the process of switching from our previous list-based signup process to using templates and userboxes, and I have therefore added the appropriate template to your user talk page. You should receive the first set of suggestions within a day, and since we'll be automating SuggestBot you will from then on continue to receive them regularly at the desired frequency.
We now also have a userbox that you can use to let others know you're using SuggestBot, and if you don't want to clutter your user talk page the bot can post to a sub-page in your userspace. More information about the userbox and usage of the template is available on User:SuggestBot/Getting Recommendations Regularly.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on my user talk page. Thanks again, Nettrom (talk) 20:01, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Survey
edit{{adminhelp}} I did the 2011 editor survey, but had a few other suggestions / comments / feedback that didn't fit into the questions. I had hoped there would be an option at the end for other comments (though I can imagine many, many reasons why one might not be provided!). After looking around my various options, I'm not sure where I could provide this feedback, and would like someone to answer that question. Ideally, I'd like to know of options for sending it directly/privately, but it's not so personal that I'd totally rule out putting some of it into an online discussion if only I knew where that discussion is taking place. Thanks! Lawikitejana (talk) 13:56, 23 April 2011 (UTC) P.S. The reason why I requested an administrator rather than just an editor was simply that I figured admins are more likely to have an answer on this one; I've been an active editor for five years or so, and I don't have an answer. :)
- Please could you ask this question in http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Editor_survey_feedback
- Thanks, Chzz ► 19:50, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

Another SuggestBot message, still heavy with West Wing and Monk deleted (1May2013) to shorten my talk page from SuggestBot (talk) 20:26, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
The article El Salvador (Peter, Paul and Mary) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- the article dosn't show notability of the song.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Oddbodz (talk) 19:38, 23 May 2011 (UTC)

I've currently nominated the page for peer review, and if you have the time to check it over I'd appreciate your contribution - in particular I'm looking to see what quality ranking people think it deserves, as I definitely think the changes I have made mean it should no longer be considered 'Start Class.' I've revised "Middleware"
editHi Lawikitejana,
I was stung into action by your remarks on the Middleware talk page. I moved the buzzword-laden stuff to "Middleware (distributed applications)", and created a new Middleware article that is more general and more introductory. Please let me know if I've hit the target. Paul Foxworthy (talk) 11:39, 20 February 2012 (UTC)
- It's thoughtful of you to come to my talk page and let me know of the revisions to this article. I looked at the new lede, and while I still don't get what middleware is, the new wording at least gives me hope that I could hope to figure it out. :)
I tried looking at the examples to see if any of them helped me picture what it is, but had the same result (i.e., it feels on the verge of understandable) with,
- "The Android environment uses the Linux operating system at its core. In addition, Android provides a middleware layer including libraries and services to facilitate the development of performance-sensitive or device-specific functionality, such as data storage, screen display, multimedia, and web browsing. The Android middleware layer also contains the Dalvik virtual machine and its core Java application libraries."
What I do know about those terms: I know Linux is an operating system, like the Windows family and the Mac OS, and like MS-DOS and VAX/VMS were. I know what data storage, screen display, multimedia, and web browsing are. I see "virtual machine" and "libraries" tossed around a lot, but only have a vague notion what they mean. Another WP article on operating systems calls Android an OS as well, while noting that it's Linux-based. "Performance-sensitive" doesn't hold any meaning for me at all. (I realize this part of the article probably already was there — it's too close to bedtime here for me to verify that hunch via the history, but this is just to say that I'm not assuming you wrote the material I find confusing.)
Keep going at it, as you have time ... in my college journalism days in the mid-80s, I had to interview a professor who'd just gotten back from a conference with Apple. It took three rounds of explaining (the third one came after I stalled by changing the interview subject for a few minutes to get up the nerve to ask him to explain this one part one last time) before he came up with an analogy that let me explain the benefits of this strange new thing called a hyperlink! But once he hit on the analogy of being able to flip open a book to any page you needed, instantaneously look up a word and go right back to the chapter you were in, I was sold. Lawikitejana (talk) 06:50, 26 February 2012 (UTC) P.S. Speaking of hyperlinks, check out the lede to that article. It might help. copy of message posted to Talk page
Hi Lawikitejana,
I've revised the discussion of Android a bit more. There are links to the articles on "virtual machine" and "software library", so I'm not inclined to say any more about them in the Middleware article. "Performance-sensitive" was a good call, and I've changed the explanation there.
Where an operating system ends and middleware begins is indeed a grey area, and there's been a long term trend for more and more to be included, like the kitchen sink, in the operating system. For example, the networking software for the Internet was once an optional extra for Windows, and there were commercial products for that. Now it's standard equipment in Windows itself. One way to understand where the boundary is is just to take note of who is responsible - so the Linux development team create Linux, but Google create the middleware for Android. Manic Pixie Dream Girl Help :)
editHi there!
I am in a class at Cornell University and our assignment is to edit an article on Wikipedia. My group is currently trying to improve the Manic Pixie Dream Girl article and we noticed that you have been active on its talk page. We were wondering if you would be willing to be our Wikipedia spirit guide during the process if we need pointers on how to improve our editing skills in adherence to Wikipedia guidelines.
New article: Demographics of Dallas-Fort Worth
editHi! I started Demographics of Dallas-Fort Worth. The idea is to begin talking about ethnic/minority groups and LGBT populations. If/when the sections get big enough, they can be split into new articles. WhisperToMe (talk) 05:20, 22 September 2014 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations
editThe article The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Seems to be a platform to promote a funnel for charitable donations, sourced only to its own website for the last 6 years. Fails WP:GNG, time for it to go.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Sionk (talk) 21:44, 29 January 2015 (UTC)

Spanish articles on American schools
editAs part of my drive to improve Woodrow Wilson High School (Dallas) I found a good Texas Monthly article on the educational practices at Woodrow in 1979. I want to start an article in Spanish on this school. Do you know some people who are interested in doing translation work from English to Spanish?
Don't you work for DISD? If so maybe somebody can introduce high school students to work on translating content from English to Spanish. I was 15 when I started editing Wikipedia. There needs to be a new generation editing here! WhisperToMe (talk) 14:50, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

I'm working on expanding the artile. Do you know how best to say 'Woodrow Wilson High "defines how a historic neighborhood school can remain a vital and integral part of the educational process and continue to serve surrounding historic neighborhoods."' in Spanish? Latin American 10,000 Challenge invite
editHi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Latin America/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like Brazil, Mexico, Peru and Argentina etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Latin American content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon. If you would like to see this happening for Latin America, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Latin America, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant!♦ --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 00:39, 27 October 2016 (UTC)

2019 US Banknote Contest
editUS Banknote Contest | ||
---|---|---|
November-December 2019 | ||
There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate. If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here |
