Re: Maps
Thank you! Unfortunately, I don't know when I'll be getting around to Warren County...in fact, most of the places in New York are still missing these locator maps, so there's probably hundreds of more to go. But feel free to go ahead and join in the effort! --Schzmo (talk) 20:05, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the barnstar! I'll try to keep up the work as best I can. --Schzmo (talk) 02:28, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

JCartier
Howdy JBC3. If you would be so kind as to allow this change for 24 hours, I would appreciate it. I'm actually trying to teach my 8th graders about respecting Wikipedia, and it would help me (and ultimately you) out a lot. Much obliged. PS: Hey JBC3: Are you from Warren County? Queensbury is where I grew up and you and I share the exact initials.
JCartier —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcartier (talk • contribs) 00:54, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- JCartier, I am from Warren County. Grew up in Queensbury and live here still. So how is it that your edit teaches 8th greders about respecting Wikipedia? And why wasn't that part of the curriculum when I was in 8th grade?? --JBC3 (talk) 02:45, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- JBC3: I grew up in QBY and graduated from the HS in '89. I now teach English in Baldwinsville, and every year when we do a research project, I discuss the various types of web sources that are available to my students. Most of my students do not know what a wiki is, and my hope in the lesson is explaining to them why it is good (as well as how it is vulnerable). As for your question re: why it wasn't in your 8th grade curriculum, I suspect that it's because your 8th grade experience predates the internet or (alas--like me) the computer in the classroom.
- Hope all is well in my hometown, and I apologize for any wiki feathers I may have ruffled.
- Respectfully,
- JCartier —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jcartier (talk • contribs) 06:53, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
- Feathers are easily ruffled here. But that's what happens I guess when thousands of artists are all trying to paint the same canvass. I don't think I even had internet at home until 7th or 8th grade, and back then it was dial up all the way. Hope your students turn out to be useful contributors. Things are good here in the big Q, although we may soon have a new village on our hands, East Lake George, New York. Town elections in November! Can't wait! --JBC3 (talk) 16:56, 25 March 2009 (UTC)
St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute
Thank you
Thank you for the additions to the info box, it needed to be expanded. As a student at that school, I like it when the page is improved. (Which doesn't happen all that often. Mostly it's just vandalism.) Keep up the good work! Shanman7 (talk) 02:13, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for leaving me a message! It means a lot to know that my efforts were appreciated! I'm on the other end of the state so I don't know much about the school personally, but I know how to make an infobox using the information already provided to me. If there is something specific of a technical nature that I can help with let me know. --JBC3 (talk) 19:15, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
re: Buffalo
I hope this works, but I responded to your message about St. Joe's. As to Niagara University, I placed it on the list because it is in the greater Buffalo region, but after readin the list realized it might not fit. Hope to hear from you, also, I have a user account and it's (User:Hockeyplyr042)

Help me
Administrator intervention against vandalism
{{help me}}
An unregistered editor has been given a final warning about vandalizing with enough time to have taken note of it, yet has again vandalized a page. I want to bring this to the attention of an administrator by placing it on Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, but the page states, Unregistered users must be active now. How can I tell? Should I bring this to the attention of an administrator anyway?
- Yes. Active now means this week, rather than this minute, as it were. - Jarry1250 (t, c) 21:32, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
- You should see whether the last edit on Special:Contributions (e.g. Special:Contributions/JBC3) is recent - if it's a username you can bring it to attention, if it's an IP you can wait until it vandalizes next. 82.5.230.78 (talk) 21:34, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Reference for a PDF
{{helpme}} I cited a PDF as a source using the {{cite web}} template, and for the pages field used the PDF page number. This document happens to have page numbers at the bottom of each page that do not correspond to the PDF page numbers. When citing, which should I use in the pages field? --JBC3 (talk) 01:05, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
- No the number on the document so be correct. Ot you need any thing, please contact me directly on my talkpage. --The New Mikemoral ♪♫ 01:13, 17 April 2009 (UTC)
Newbie's very frequent constructive edits
{{help me}} A relative "newbie" is making constructive edits to Irondequoit, New York, but is making these edits every 2 minutes or so. Some edits are adding new content, while some are correcting/rewording content he or she just added. I've already placed {{subst:welcome2}} and {{subst:uw-preview}} on the user's talk page. Should I take further action? --JBC3 (talk) 22:44, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
- Best, write them a nice little message - a personal one, not a template - on their talk. Try to make 'em welcome, and try to help 'em with their editing. It doesn't matter if they do stuff wrong; everything can be 'undone' easily enough - and it is more important to encourage anyone who wants to add to the project.
- Be gentle, be nice, help 'em out, etc.
- If you want more help, you could talk to us live, with this or this.
Thanks
I appreciate the barnstar. I'm trying to do my part...that's how the Wiki works. See ya 'round. Tiderolls 00:21, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Sestito Brothers
Just a quick note regarding your recent deletion on the Rome, New York article...Tim Sestito and Tom Sestito are brothers...not the same person. Cheers!--averagejoe (talk) 22:21, 22 April 2009 (UTC)

Re: Long Beach, New York
Sorry to put this section here, but I am an IP user and do not have an account. This is is reference to a link I added to the Long Beach, New York page. I added a link to my food website because it is informative, user driven and and above all it is ad-free. The other food website that is listed on the page is spammy and full of google ads. I am not looking for pagerank or ad revenue like some site owners. Just saying. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.113.158.167 (talk) 05:49, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you for your message. I have tagged Long Beach, New York's external links for review. If you feel other links are spammy or do not comply with WP:EL guidelines, please feel free to remove them, placing your reason in the edit summary. If you feel your contribution does comply with WP:EL, or that it should be allowed as an exception because it improves the article, consider discussing its addition on the article's talk page. If there is consensus, the link may be added and kept regardless of guidelines. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. --JBC3 (talk) 03:55, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
