The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:24, 29 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

Commons File Importer

edit

Dear Danny, As I have seen that you recently added a couple of templates over at Mediawikiwiki:Extension:FileImporter/Data/en.wikipedia, could you perhaps also add PD-Thailand to the list? That avoids the awkward gymnastics of having to add a fake US tag for copying over and then replacing the tag at Commons. Thank you very much! Felix QW (talk) 17:37, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Felix QW:   Done. I assume you don't have the autoconfirmed permission on the MediaWiki wiki? Ixfd64 (talk) 18:00, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply
Many thanks for the rapid actioning! Indeed I am not autoconfirmed on Mediawiki since I really only ever edit Commons, Wikipedia and occasionally Wikidata. Felix QW (talk) 19:06, 19 January 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hey @Ixfd64, thanks for patrolling edits and reverting vandalism! I wonder if you are interested in our ongoing study for patrollers. The study aims to evaluate AI models that power Huggle, SWViewer, and many other anti-vandal tools. Your feedback can be really helpful! If you're interested, please check out our recruitment page for more information. Thank you for your consideration! Tzusheng (talk) 02:44, 29 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ixfd64. What exactly are you proposing here? Thanks, Fastily 01:54, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

I was thinking the screenshot could be changed to the FreeBSD license used by DesktopBSD. The logos and artwork collection are under the non-free CC BY-NC license, [2] but it's not clear whether that also applies to operating system's graphical user interface. If the CC BY-NC license is only for the logos, then the screenshot could be freely licensed. I opened an FfD as I wanted a second set of eyes. Sorry if my original nomination wasn't clear. Ixfd64 (talk) 02:56, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Welp, I just found that the source webpage says the downloaded screenshots may not be modified. So that means we can't relicense this particular image. But if the FreeBSD license also applies to the operating system's graphical assets, then we could create our own free screenshots. Ixfd64 (talk) 02:59, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
Okay, thanks for the clarification! Regards, Fastily 08:09, 9 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ethics Workshop Participation Request

edit

Hi Ixfd64! We're conducting a series of participatory workshops with Wikipedia editors, administrators, researchers, and Wikimedia employees to discuss, and hopefully improve, Wikipedia's structures for online research (see meta research page). In an effort to get the right people in the room to discuss these topics, I'm reaching out here to see if you are interested in participating as an active administrator. We'd work with you to ensure this workshop can fit into your schedule, but are targeting end of April/early May. I'm happy to discuss any of these topics further here or on our talk page. i dont know how to use this... but the movie 'HER' is based on the 1995 published book, Galatea 2.2 Richard Powers....check it out David Simek — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.127.196.123 (talkcontribs)

@69.127.196.123: Hello, I had to undo your edits because they did not adhere to our manual of style. Furthermore, you also need sources to back up your claims. Her and Galatea 2.2 may have similar plots, but you did not include a source which shows that one work was based on the other. Ixfd64 (talk) 04:47, 21 May 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hi Ixfd64 -- thanks for pinging me on those discussions.

However, since I'm so involved in the discussions over on the Commons, those pings could be seen as canvassing.

I will therefore recuse myself from participating, but I appreciate the heads-up. --Rlandmann (talk) 22:10, 3 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Pied piper poster.jpg listed for discussion

edit

About this poster whether if you want it to be deleted or now, I think it should stay because not only the Disney's Pied Piper short is old and is currently on PublicDomain but the poster as well plus it should stay in its wikipedia page, and also I have almost forgotten about it until now when you ask if the poster should stay, and I agree that it should stay and not be deleted. Belrien12 (talk) 07:41, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Belrien12: The poster could probably qualify for fair use. Ixfd64 (talk) 16:10, 11 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Invitation to participate in a research

edit

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
