Karachi

Regarding temperatures: So long as you give record highs to only the nearest 1 °C, I will revert your edits in full. There is absolutely no reason not to provide temperatures to the nearest 0.1 °C, and furthermore, destroying precision can be considered removal of information.
Regarding rainfall: Whether you are an expert is irrelevant...HKO is quite a reliable source, and derives its data from local government sources, so that is sufficient; in addition, it gives rainfall to the nearest 0.1 mm, not 1 mm as BBC does.
Regarding humidity: What was provided previously is the average AM humidity, not average daily humidity. And I doubt whether simply averaging AM and PM humidity will give the correct daily average.
Regarding sunshine: BBC does not give daily sunshine hours to the nearest 0.1 hr, and yet your version of the table does. List only what the source gives...anything else is original research. –HXL's Roundtable and Record 17:42, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

All right then. But please do not destroy precision any further. –HXL's Roundtable and Record 18:20, 8 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Editing....

edit

Look i have never cried like a baby before nor crying yet, its your stubbornness that always create such situation. Well as far as the editing on climate of Islamabad is concerned the event of cloud burst is a major event that took place on 23 July, 2001. I have added this new section only to give reader a brief information about this event, it will be not suitable that we totally do not add this section in the article.

I have reverted your edit, so please do not revert my edit again. In the article of climate of Karachi you have added a bundle of sections, which looks "EXTRAS" and carry no suitability like:

  • List of notable floods in Karachi, if Karachi more rainy than any other city in Pakistan ???? absolutely not, Karachi rarely get floods, like after every one year or so.
  • List of dust storms in Karachi, looks somewhat suitable, but generally this should not be added.
  • List of droughts in Karachi, another fault, how many and to what extent the extremism of droughts were ??? only the drought of 1998-2001 is severe, other than that droughts you mentioned are seasonal, which occurs every where, even in Islamabad, due to fluctuation and variability in climate.

I have just pointed out the extra headings in this article, in front of these, the heading of Cloudburst justified. I will still say that this is not the solution to stop reverting the edits of each other, please read Wikipedia: Policies for broader prospective, for the least i know that to overcome edit wars the users must solve it through negotiations and discussing and you always runs away from exhaustive discussions, and never came forward with this. And you always say "I am a weather expert" look nobody is expert !!!

I have seen your Blog of climate, it needs some exhaustive work regarding the precise information, overall good job is done on the climate Blog.

Regards.

You are not bound to add the 2010 Pakistan floods in the article of climate of Pakistan nor i am, it must be added. while the 2011 Baluchistan floods doesn't have a relation with the climate of Quetta it is irrelevant to add this in climate of Quetta. Quetta just received heavy rain but not as heavy as before (its not record breaking rainfall), and the areas that were flooded in Baluchistan are not relevant to the article, on the other hand cloudburst occurred in Islamabad city and its a record breaking and heavy rainfall in past 100 years, and heaviest at any location in Pakistan, such record breaking and phenomenal climate event should be added in the article to beautify it.

You are wring La-Nina causes abnormally low rains, while El-Nino brings wet weather for your confirmation see Pakistan seasonal forecast of winter, 2011, in which they said:

"“La Niña phenomenon, causing abnormally low precipitation with low temperatures in Pakistan so far, is still prevailing and expected to continue well into the Northern Hemisphere during winter/spring 2011, as predicted by most of the global models.”"

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

edit

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:51, 20 October 2016 (UTC)Reply

New deal for page patrollers

edit

Hi HunterZone,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)Reply
