Question from PolarRailfan7068 (00:50, 15 November 2024)
editDear Mentor, I have a brief inquiry. If an individual were to substitute an image with another that is a drawing created by a different artist, and that individual possesses the necessary permissions and is aware of the copyright implications, is it possible for the new image to lack any associated files, given that it is a drawing? --PolarRailfan7068 (talk) 00:50, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- @PolarRailfan7068: Hey there! You raise a really vague question, and I'm hesitant to give you a definite answer, especially with copyright issues involved. Can you be a bit more specific? Bsoyka (t • c • g) 15:09, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, what I'm asking if any image has to have a file. Like, I want to replace this image on the Titanic page. specifically The image with the side view of the ship with this one from a website called Ocean liner Designs. [1] But I want to know from the person who did the drawing if I can use a image of the drawing to replace the current image. I already sent a Email asking him last week but he hasn't responded yet. What i'm trying to say if I can use an image of a drawing but don't show files since it's a drawing. If I sound stupid I'm sorry. PolarRailfan7068 (talk) 21:43, 15 November 2024 (UTC)
- @PolarRailfan7068: I don't think this idea will work out. First of all, we don't really make a distinction between "images" and "files," so I'm not sure what you're asking there. But also, I'm pretty confident in saying we won't get permission to use that drawing. The website has it watermarked and is making a significant profit from the sales—I cannot envision them freely licensing the image for anyone to use, which Wikipedia requires. Bsoyka (t • c • g) 04:45, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, Thanks for letting me know sorry if this was a mess. I just started a account and I'm only 13 so sorry so I have no idea how copy right works. PolarRailfan7068 (talk) 22:27, 18 November 2024 (UTC)
- @PolarRailfan7068: No problem at all! I just advise that you don't play around too much with images until you're more familiar with the rules and laws around them. Happy editing Bsoyka (t • c • g) 22:48, 18 November 2024 (UTC)

Question from ExaEthereumgold (10:34, 17 November 2024)
editHello, my name is Terrence, and I want to add a article, information page on my company, corporations Eethg Corps PhD, and Eethg Corps Inc Phd - however I do most of my work on my mobile phone, and writing articles is a lot different than emails , I am asking the best way to correctly do with click on links, and it update yearly. I got links on bing and Google, but all the major big leagues got "Articles" on Wikipedia --ExaEthereumgold (talk) 10:34, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
- @ExaEthereumgold: I know this isn't the answer you want to hear, but please don't make an article about your own company. There are so many problems associated with doing so that we have a help page detailing them all, "An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing," which I advise you to read. Question from PolarRailfan7068 (23:36, 19 November 2024)
editHello Mentor, I just submitted a draft for a page called Battle For Dream Island and I letted them know that it is a Rough Draft and is not final. Could you please help with with adding references and images please. whenever you can. --PolarRailfan7068 (talk) 23:36, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- @PolarRailfan7068: Hey again! I hate to bear the bad news, but we intentionally don't have an article about BFDI, and attempts to create one have been deleted many dozens of times. I'm going to point you toward WP:BFDI for information on why, but the main reason is the show doesn't meet our notability requirements. Bsoyka (t • c • g) 23:51, 19 November 2024 (UTC)
- oh, well, thank you for the information anyway i'll wont be bothering you so bye PolarRailfan7068 (talk) 00:07, 20 November 2024 (UTC)

Question
editThis section is pinned and will not be automatically archived. |
Hello, my friend! I know we are getting into Thanksgiving vacation time, so no hurry on this, but I'm wondering if you have access to a version of this book by Leena Ahtola-Moorhouse. I believe it is only available in Finnish or Swedish, which is fine, but I'm looking for the single page catalogue entry for Self-Portrait, which is known as either Omakuva or Självporträtt, respectively. I think it's unlikely you will have access to these works, but I thought I would ask in the rare event that you do. Thanks for everything. Viriditas (talk) 23:08, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
- @Viriditas: Hey! I've requested a copy through my library. I've said it before and I'll say it again: the folks in my interlibrary loan department are real-life magicians. I'm in a Big Ten Academic Alliance school, so their reach spreads pretty far. We'll see what they can do on this one! I'll be heading out of town for Thanksgiving to see family, so if it arrives after 11/27, it'll wait at my library until 12/2. I'll pin this section and let you know when they get back to me with some news. Bsoyka (t • c • g) 03:11, 23 November 2024 (UTC)
