Greetings. This is Kyuu. He have given myself this name in December 2002, by simply coverting the letter Q (for "Question") into Japanese (Katakana) and then Romanizing it. Suprisingly and interestingly, a Kanji (旧) has the on-reading of きゅう, whose meaning is the same as his real name. Therefore, the name Kyuu may serve as an equivalent to a real name. For the record, the name of "Q" has no relation to Star Trek's Q, even though he favors that character.
Kyuu is a man of many hats, with many interests. Due to this, he cannot claim specialization in any one topic.
After a short "career" in high school cross country, Kyuu refrained from running for 10 years. In 2008, he took up running again and started running road races.
Since then, Kyuu had run various races from 5K to the marathon. He had run the Chicago Marathon (2009) and the Twin Cities Marathon (2010). For 2012, he was scheduled to run the Chicago Marathon again for the second time. Unfortunately, a foot injury during training prevented completion of this marathon.
Since the mid-1990's, or even the 1980's, he has been a long time fan of anime. Currently, he has watched over 500 anime series, movies, OVAs, etc.[1][2]
Since November 2009, Kyuu has taken up the game of Japanese Mahjong. Since the beginning of play, he has tallied well a few thousand games of mahjong via Tenhou.net and other mahjong game platforms. Starting in 2015, he competed in a few mahjong tournaments, including the 2017 World Riichi Championship. As of June 2016, he has been granted leadership of the Chicago Area Mahjong group.
