A registered user and an anon user are reverting each other regarding what positon Kruup was drafted in 1983. according to our article and this site and this one he was drafted 214th. Are these sources wrong ? I'm going to put it back to 214 and suggest that this talk page could be used to sort this out. No Guru19:26, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well this is definitely a strange occurence, as the 1993 NHL Official Guide & Record Book says that he was indeed drafted 214th. However later editions say 223rd, and I checked in the book Total Hockey, and it says Krupp was drafted 223rd as well, and that Jeff Frank of the Regina Pats was drafted 223rd... As well in this year's edition it says that Dominik Hasek was drafted 207th (as well as Total Hockey), while in the 1983 NHL Entry Draft article it says that he was drafted 199th... What the heck is going on here? Which one is right? Croat Canuck19:54, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Weird. You would think that there wouldn't be so much confusion over the draft position of a player (I assumed it would be well documented). For some reason I couldn't locate historical draft info on Nhl.com. The official Sabres site does have him listed at 214, however [1]. No Guru20:08, 19 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
Wait! I figured it out, upon further research I found out that was the same year that the St. Louis Blues draft picks were voided so the picks St. Louis had, #48, #69, #90, #111, #132, #153, #174, #195, #216 and #237 were all voided. That explains the discrepancy, and if you take out the picks, that is the only thing that makes up the difference. So Uwe Krupp was the 214th player picked, but he was the 223rd pick overall, since St. Louis had to choose to pick nobody with the draft picks they possessed. So 214th overall should be fine, its just something to keep an eye on for other articles. Croat Canuck02:53, 20 February 2006 (UTC)Reply
