I think this article confuses some of the terminology. A Ska is typically played with ghostnotes on the 1,2,3,4 and normal chords on the "ands" (or 1,3 vs. 1,4 depending on how you count). As far as I understand, these "ands" can be considered off-beats, but only the last one per bar would be considered an up-beat. I think the reason for this confusion might be that these off-beats are usually played as up-strokes. I don't know if this is a mistake or imprecision carried over from the given source or just a misinterpretation of what was written there. Maybe it's even some kind of imprecise wording commonly used by guitarists who consider "up-beat" equals "up-stroke/strum" because the don't realize that the term "up-beat" is used differently by other musicians? --El Grafo (talk) 13:41, 9 August 2016 (UTC)Reply
