editHey, I think this is a great article, it offers effective historical documentation. Also, the history of the Roman Gardens is a good reference in order to figure out the importance of them in Roman culture. Looks great. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Palicharles (talk • contribs) 21:43, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

editFor being concerned that you had a very general topic, you did a really good job summarizing the key points related to the gardens. Well done. :) I was never left with questions, so information-wise, you are set! A couple comments:
...inspired by the Greek gardens and ornamental horticulture... -
'the' Greek gardens? ; I would put a period where the 'and' is. That way, it isn't as confusing, right now it reads that the Greek gardens and horticulture inspired the Roman Gardens until the reader gets to the end of the sentence and realizes that the second half is a different throught.
...of Roman civilisation - Typo: civilization
...on the Pincian Hill on the edge of Rome - Rephrase, do not use 'on the' twice in a row.
..Europe, about 60 BC. - " around" rather than "about" ?
tranquility, a refuge from urban life, and -I feel using -- rather than commas would be better, i.e., "tranquility--a refuge from urban life--and ..."
meanings.As -
Space between period and new sentence.
Persian, as well as Greek -
Replace with 'and'. Also, you used the word 'influenced' again in this sentence. That word comes up a lot, perhaps reword a couple of them.
During the 18th dynasty gardening - Dynasty of what? Egypt? Rome? We obviously know what you are talking about, but it may be better to assume the reader will not know that Egypt had dynasties. that's sooo boring a hate latin soo much its the worst subject ever whats the point of it arid Arab land. The gardens - I would use a semicolon here instead of a period, but that's just my personal opinion, what you have is correct.
In Ancient Latium, a - Define what Latium is? That or make "Latium" a linked word.
The paragraph starting with "Private Roman Gardens were seperated..." - I would put the three parts in bold or italics to seperate them. At first I was confused when we started discussing a new part. Also, I liked the fact you used the word "millieu." :)
the ultra wealthy -
'incredibly' ?
Hope this helps.

- Hey Diana, very well structured article. I really enjoyed the brief history, influences, and purposes that you outlined. Here's a few things I would change "....on the Pincian Hill on the edge of Rome" - Rephrase. Secondly theres a typo with ..of Roman civilisation, it should be civilization. Looks great, Charles. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.74.82.169 (talk) 22:26, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- Hey good Job!
- I like the article. Its very informative and organized in a manner that is easy to read. The way you show how the Roman gardens were influenced by the Egyptians and others, and how the gardens influenced future gardens was really neat.
- The article is long enough, but I would have liked to known more about how the Roman garden has changed over time.
- Also, I think a picture would really help explain the section 'parts of the Roman gardens'.
- But all in all I think you did a great.
