editWhile I think that there should be an article on K batteries, the current version is just a glowing list of why K is better than Li batteries... I think this makes it sound more like an advert and at any rate there is a reason why K batteries are not overwhelmingly common... I'm not qualified to rewirte this, but if somebody can, that would be appreciated. IlyaV (talk) 01:40, 1 December 2011 (UTC)
Scientific discovery is one thing, commercialization is another thing. Some examples are:
1. Lithium battery was discovered in 1982, after thousands of articles, patents and reports, first commericial sample was produced by Sony in 1991.
2. There is no commercial sample for magnesium battery after 20 years of research.
3. Nobel prize was awarded for the discovery of a new material named Fullerences, but still no application for this kind of nanomaterials.
Industry is very cautious to take risk about new discoveries. Lithium battery is working now, why they should put their products in risk by using a new idea which is not tested in action. PtriciQ (talk) 02:20, 26 March 2012 (UTC)
Diversity of batteries
editThere tens of different types of batteries. Don't let the similarity in name deceive you. Every type of battery has its own applications, as provide different range of power density/energy density. — Preceding unsigned comment added by IbrahimFad (talk • contribs) 22:13, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
All you need to do to sell me is to make a rechargeable battery for the 6 volt drycell lantern battery. you ought to be able to do that with a 2 cell battery. And make the intercell connector internal to a 2cell cellcase.WFPM (talk) 00:40, 22 March 2013 (UTC)
I wonder why this unjustified discussion flaged the article for uch a long time. We have choices in life, it is not better or worse. The question is like "If Mac is better than Windows, why not replacing it". Each has advantages and disadvantages. If looking at the category of batteries in Wikipedia, there are many different types of batteries which seem to be similar, but they can have different applications.
I believe that Wikipedia Editors must pay an attention to such cases. Skeptmania (talk) 22:40, 26 November 2013 (UTC)
Additional information on potassium ion batteries
editI came across an article in ieee Spectrum (11/25/2011) about research into potassium ion batteries by Yi Cui at Stamford University. The negatives seem to be weight and finding an effective anode material.[1] All features have been described in a recent review.[2] MatrixT (talk) 03:58, 21 January 2013 (UTC)

Aqueous battery
editThe aqueous version of the battery is used in cites, so I have added a PIAB (potassium-ion aqueous battery) link here. Due to quite different chemistry, it might warrant a separate article someday. In the meantime it would be nice to have something here (a section?), as the advantages section cites benefits in part from an article on PIABs. Викидим (talk) 21:51, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
