editProposing moving this article to Octavo (text), to bring it in parallel with Folio (text) and Quarto (text) It was a dark and stormy night. (talk) 19:49, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- It seems to me that "(book)" is more accurate than "(text)" as these terms relate to the size, or more technically perhaps, the format, of a book. The "text" doesn't have any relevance to the format or size. I would move all of 'em to ---(book). Ecphora (talk) 21:41, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- Or even better, to -----(printing). Ecphora (talk) 22:36, 15 June 2009 (UTC)
- I can see that (book) might imply these are book titles. The style Octavo (book format), or Octavo (book size) seems best for all of these. "Text" is also confusing. Alternatively the other meanings at Octavo are vanishingly obscure, & would probably not survive Afd, so it should just take the plain name, with a disam page. Johnbod (talk) 14:30, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Should we move to Octavo, and move Octavo to Octavo (disambiguation) then? There are only two other meanings at Octavo, and one of those is a red link. It was a dark and stormy night. (talk) 18:29, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- I think that is best here, though it might not work for Folio. Johnbod (talk) 18:31, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
- Cool! If we have consensus then, I'll move it tomorrow. (Agreed that this would not work for Folio or even for Quarto). Thanks for your input. It was a dark and stormy night. (talk) 21:42, 16 June 2009 (UTC)

Although I agree with this move, in general, you might wait more than 24 hours to see if there is "consensus." Wikipedia doesn't always move at light speed, especially on more obscure topics. Ecphora (talk) 03:44, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, especially since it has been moved before, doing it the WP:RM way is best. Johnbod (talk) 13:13, 17 June 2009 (UTC)
Requested move
editOctavo (book) → Octavo — Per discussion above, let's move Octavo (book) and Octavo (text) to Octavo, since this is the only common usage of the term. Thanks! It was a dark and stormy night. (talk) 20:20, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- Support per above - clearly the primary use. Johnbod (talk) 20:59, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
- Support as primary; the only other entry on the dab page which is actually Octavo is Pratchett's, which is presumably an octavo in this sense; I'm adding a See also to the relevant section.Septentrionalis PMAnderson 17:58, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Agree. Ecphora (talk) 22:41, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- Done - Tiptoety talk 21:05, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
- I've proposed a similar move for the Quarto (text) article. Please post any comments at Talk:Quarto (text). Thanks. Ecphora (talk) 22:01, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
Footnote
editBy the way, the link in the first footnote doesn't work. Is 8MO really used, or is it a false analogy from 16mo? Septentrionalis PMAnderson 22:19, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- You're correct; "8MO" is not used. There also are other problems in the article. I just revised Book size and I'll try to clean this up next. Ecphora (talk) 22:40, 29 June 2009 (UTC)
- I've revised the article. Among other things, I have corrected the statement that Aldus created the octavo. Ecphora (talk) 03:12, 30 June 2009 (UTC)
