editA compound SI unit, the newton is the unit of force, defined as the amount of force required to accelerate a one kilogram mass at a rate of one metre per second per second. It is also the unit of weight, as weight is the force acting between two objects due to gravity.
What about similar units, like the kelvin? --Ed Poor
Certainly we shouldn't lose the definition above. How about moving to Newton (unit) ? -- DrBob
- Done! -- April
Why did you move the pages around, Mav? --Ed Poor
- Whoever made the disambiguation page to begin with didn't bother to fix the links. Each link I checked wanted to go directly to the unit of force. The Apple Newton is called just that and Issac Newton does have a first name the cities can be naturally disambiguated but the poor unit of force does not have a naturally disambiguated equivelant. Thus the move. --mav
- Well, when you put it that way I can't help but agree. You see, I sympathize with that "poor unit of force". -- Poor Ed
Newton
editwas also a pop singer.
He sang "Sometimes when we touch". It was a top song in Australia in 1996.
As far as I know he didn't have a Christian name.

- Yes - Newton's Streamline is the background music for a Pepsi commercial (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1001047613271854156). Newton is also on Last.fm: http://last.fm/music/Newton. I'm adding him. --Anthony5429 03:20, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Should we create a link for that? - user:tothaa —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 80.99.125.207 (talk) 13:00, 16 December 2006 (UTC).
"Newton" rocket engines
editVirgin Galactic#LauncherOne's engines are called Newton [1][2] and documented at that article, so an entry may be in order here. -- 67.70.35.44 (talk) 05:26, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

Newton → Newton (disambiguation) – Isaac Newton is according to the article "one of the most influential scientists of all time". It is a clear case of WP:PTOPIC if there ever was one. Accordingly, Newton should redirect to Isaac Newton, and a new disambiguation should be created. Vpab15 (talk) 21:15, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
- Page view statistics confirm Isaac Newton is primary topic (over 70% of selected articles) [3].Vpab15 (talk) 23:29, 25 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose Newton has many meanings, Stalin does not. In ictu oculi (talk) 05:50, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose Newton (unit) is very widely used. Isaac Newton is not primary for just the word Newton.ZXCVBNM (TALK) 12:28, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose. I think there are probably too many notable meanings here for Sir Isaac to take precedence, however great a scientist he may have been. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:49, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- Comment. Isaac Newton has almost four times the views of the unit article, which derives the name from the scientist [4]. The rest of the articles have even fewer views [5]. I think it is clear most people are interested in the scientist and Newton should redirect to it. Vpab15 (talk) 15:37, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- How do these stats prove people are searching Newton to get Isaac Newton? Nohomersryan (talk) 17:47, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose per Vpab15, the stats for primacy of the person over the unit are not sufficient to be primary. It is less than 10 times more common than the other -- 70.51.203.56 (talk) 04:58, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
- Oppose – Newton could easily refer to the unit. CookieMonster755✉ 15:22, 27 April 2018 (UTC)
