Franco-Armenian or just... French ?
editI have a true respect for Armenian people but why should Michel Legrand be qualified 'Franco-Armenian' ? This article mentions that he has Armenian forebears from his mother, Marcelle Der Mikaëlian - which is unquestionably true. But Marcelle Der Mikaëlian's father came from Armeny to France in 1903, and she was born in Paris 3 years later. In accordance with the French law of that time she certainly had the French nationality since her birth. Her own mother - Henriette Ruzé, Michel Legrand's grandmother - was French. (Cf http://chanson.udenap.org/fiches_bio/helian_jacques/helian_jacques.htm). It would be interesting to know if Marcelle could even speak a single word of Armenian... Therefore, saying that Michel Legrand is Franco-Armenian sounds really odd. Would people say Louis XIV was Franco-Austrian ? At the section 'Nationality' of Michel Legrand's passport, it's written 'French', period... In fact, going by this article, Michel Legrand is more likely to be Franco-American nowadays, in his heart at least :) ("Currently, Legrand divides his time between America and France").
Thanks for the article anyway, and Long Live Wikipedia

editI'm almost certain Legrand died some time ago. Does anyone have his date of death? His musical production seems to have ceased in the late 1990s. JFW | T@lk 23:48, 31 Oct 2004 (UTC)
Oh my God! Shut up! He is alive and he will live another 100 years. Look at this jerk! Check in other online resources before u declare somebody dead. ! —Preceding unsigned comment added by ArmenianNY (talk • contribs) 21:22, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
As of February 16, 2006, as I write this, Legrand is alive. Rich 06:28, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Noel! Noel!! Noel!!!
editI am not familiar with Legrand, but I started an article for the album Noel! Noel!! Noel!!!. Feel free to add information relating to this album to the article. --Another Believer (Talk) 04:52, 16 November 2011 (UTC)
Does this article still need additional sources tag?
editDoes this article still need the "Additional sources needed" tag? It has eighteen references and a number of external links. Vorbee (talk) 18:55, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- Much of the text is unsourced. The worst section is "Awards", which doesn't have a single source. To get anywhere near RD in WP:ITN, a lot more sources would be needed, i.e. basically everything. Martinevans123 (talk) 19:03, 26 January 2019 (UTC)
- I've split disco and awards and removed most of the name dumps and some pov. I've sourced the rest, I think, but the refs are almost bare, just urls and titles. As I'm mostly drunk right now, I'm going to bed. Isa (talk) 08:23, 27 January 2019 (UTC)
"Jazz pianist"
editThe Hindu describes him as a "jazz pianist" and this is also given as his occupation in the info box, but there is very little in the article supporting this. Is there any more available? Martinevans123 (talk) 10:05, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
Awards
editHis major awards seem to be all listed in the infobox. But there are no sources. Although the separate Discograohy article lists his awards in detail they seem to be unsourced there also. Is this ok? Martinevans123 (talk) 10:41, 28 January 2019 (UTC)
- I see they have now been restored. Martinevans123 (talk) 16:30, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
