J. Weid Comments

edit

Hi Maria,
Overall, good job. My comments are in list-form and I tried to be as concise as possible.

Best,

Lead
o First line, I would recommend just saying ‘about 1027 lines’ instead of using the ‘c.’ abbreviation. (style)

o Last line seems redundant – ‘leading role’ and ‘dominates the play’ (style)

Characters

o Good

Background

o Can you link to something on the golden fleece – I know it has a rich history in Greek mythology?

o ‘the three tasks’ should say ‘were’ and not ‘where’ (grammar)

o Check the grammar/wording in the line starting with ‘in order to flee with Jason…’

 It ends with ‘be able to escape with Jason’ which is essentially the same thing as it started with (style)

o Content

 What powers does Medea have?

 I guess I’m not really understanding what is going on – who is on this journey and why?

• I see that there is a mention of Pelias and some ‘brother’ but I am not following why they are there

Plot

o ‘a regal robe to poison and sends it…’ – what does this mean?

o The chorus describe’ – subject/verb agreement – ‘chorus describes’

o Who are the Argonauts?

o I’m not sure what is going on with this curse/robe-thing

 Is it poisonous on touch?

 What is the curse? Is it separate from the robe?

o Run a check for grammar/style if you can

Euripides v. Seneca

o Again, check grammar/punctuation stuff if you can

o Wikilinks? Who is Euripides?

o Content

 It says that Medea kills one of her children in front of Jason? I thought she killed both?

 I don’t get the impression, though it is indicated in this section, that Medea felt any remorse (“Medea escapes in a dragon chariot while she throws the bodies of the boys down to Jason”)

Sources

o What are these?

 I usually see ‘references’ and ‘external links’ so what role do these two ‘sources’ play? Are they cited in wiki-entry

[too long;didn't read] basically, just run a check for grammar/style. Add wiki-links where you can. And then, if you can address some of the content questions. Overall, good job. — Preceding unsigned comment added by JonathanWeid (talkcontribs) 06:18, 31 July 2017 (UTC) JonathanWeid (talk) 06:22, 31 July 2017 (UTC)Reply
