Revenue
editI have removed this statement: "Most of the city's revenue comes from traffic citations[citation needed]." The public budget reveals that this statement isn't even close to being true. Vaoverland 15:49, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
It is true that Emporia rakes in a MILLION Dollars per year from fines and forfeitures. While that certainly doesn't qualify as "most", it certainly is Emporia's #1 Industry.... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.110.112.254 (talk) 18:55, 21 January 2010 (UTC)
The Virginia makes police and sheriffs departments put most of the traffic ticket money into a general fund now. So I don't believe the section is accurate any longer. Either way Emporia is a city (county equivalent in Virginia) not a town. Hamiltonl (talk) 20:16, 11 January 2014 (UTC)

Record Low Temperature
edit-24°F is incredibly low for this area and I can’t find that result when I use NOAA’s site. Is that possibly an error? Anne Marie (talk) 19:43, 31 July 2021 (UTC)
Money trap
editEmporia is a trap on all angles. The fuel pricing is $.40 higher than the surrounding area. The speed trap issue is also criminal. Lodging is also questionable at best. AVOID THIS TOWN. 2600:1004:B235:47EE:CA2:29E1:B14D:5C59 (talk) 11:53, 29 October 2022 (UTC)
