NPOV dispute

edit

Olivier Doorenbos previously pointed out that this article reads a lot like an advert. There is lots of positive information about Drax's decarbonisation projects without any information on the ongoing controversies surrounding the group (see https://extinctionrebellion.uk/event/protect-people-axe-drax-online-action-the-uks-no-1-polluter/ and https://www.redpepper.org.uk/activists-are-taking-on-the-uks-largest-carbon-culprit/) or the fact that it was previously, by its own admission "western Europe’s largest polluter" (https://www.drax.com/sustainability/climate-change-is-the-biggest-challenge-of-our-time/#:~:text=Is Drax the largest carbon, largest decarbonisation project in Europe) or accusations of Greenwashing e.g. by relying on controversial carbon capture technologies to meet sustainably targets. Maybe the accusations are all wrong but they at least need discussing. Also we have Simonr129 employed by Drax editing the article (thank you for openness) so NPOV check is important. Hi - I have sought to rebalance the article a bit: specifically, I have culled some of the advertising type material and cut back on some of the decarbonisation material. I have also started a controversies section which is a similar length to the operations section (now that it has been culled). I have in all cases tried to use reliable sources rather than the publications issued by lobby groups. Please feel free to expand the controversies section. I hope that we can now remove the tag. Wow, that was quick! Yeah, seems a lot better now!... I would say that perhaps the company is big and high-profile enough to warrant a longer article which includes the decarbonisation stuff (worded less like an advert) along with the controversies, but maybe not until someone is willing to put the time in to write it in a balanced manor. But neutrality has been restored so I removed the tag. Thanks and great job Gul e (talk) 21:43, 26 January 2021 (UTC)Reply
Great. Thanks for that. Dormskirk (talk) 23:29, 26 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

There are some part of this article about Drax Group plc are inaccurate or outdated. I am happy to provide the accurate information for my fellow wikipedia users to make the article more accurate, informative and up to date. Here are a list of the errors I would like to correct:

  • The logo in the side bar is incorrect. I am happy to add the up-to-date logo with a creative commons licence.
  • The list of principal directors is inaccurate. I am prepared to correct this and to link to external references.
  • Haven Energy is consistently referred to as Haven Power. I am happy to correct this with a reference.
  • The White Rose Carbon Capture and Storage partnership information is out of date. I am prepared to update this.

I am happy to declare that Drax Group is my client. If you'd like to discuss this further, please contact me via my talk page.Simonr1295 (talk) 13:23, 15 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your help. I have inadvertently added a reference to Dorothy Thompson's CBE at the top of the page. I would like to {{request edit}} for it. Please contact me at my talk page if you would like to discuss this or any other aspect of my involvement. (Simonr1295 (talk) 15:08, 18 December 2015 (UTC))Reply

Stray external link removed. Regards, Bazj (talk) 15:17, 18 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

The White Rose CCS project has now been cancelled as a result of the Government spending review.

For the sake of accuracy I recommend that the following information be added at the end of the current section about the White Rose CCS project:

White Rose CCS participated in a tender process launched by the government of the United Kingdom for a CCS demonstration project [1]. The competition was cancelled shortly before it ended in November 2015 following a spending review [2]. Reference to add for [1]: http://webarchive.nationalarchives.gov.uk/20090609003228/http://www.berr.gov.uk/files/file42478.pdf Reference to add for [2]: Carrington, Damian (25 November 2015). "UK cancels pioneering £1bn carbon capture and storage competition". the Guardian

Thank you Simonr1295 (talk) 15:48, 18 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

May I suggest that the figure for 'gross profit' be updated in the information bar? Gross profit: £450 million (2014)

This comes from the Drax group website, www.drax.com

Given that the White Rose CCS project has now been cancelled, as shown in previous recommendations, may I also recommend that the following information be added to the section?

On 25 September 2015, Drax announced it remained committed to fulfilling its current work on a Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) feasibility and technology development project (FEED), but once completed, would not be investing further and will withdraw as a partner of Capture Power Ltd, the developer of the White Rose CCS project.

Thank you
