The decomposition product of cumene hydroperoxide should not be 4-isopropylbenzyl alcohol but 2-Phenyl-2-propanol
editAccording to this piece of research and the picture attached to it, it seems that the product derived from the decomposition of cumene hydroperoxide should be one of these three: acetophenone methanol when heated, acetone phenol when acid added, or dimethyl benzyl alcohol (that is 2-Phenyl-2-propanol, DMBA, or alpha-cumyl alcohol, which may decompose further to alpha-Methylstyrene via dehydration) if cumene is added and the reactants are heated. However, no such mechanism is discovered that cumene hydroperoxide may decompose to 4-isopropylbenzyl alcohol (aka cumyl alchohol). Therefore, I edited the article. Thank you.
