There is no evidence for her being born in 1930

edit

the sources I have located suggest she is about two years younger than Kirk douglas, which would put her birthday around 1919, not 1930. unless someone can provide hard evidence of her being born in 1930 I vote to remove it.

Yes, merge

edit

Apparently there is a discussion about merging this page with Kirk Douglas, but I can't find it. Anyway, I vote yes, merge. Valetude (talk) 12:04, 10 December 2016 (UTC)Reply

Familyname

edit

If she is born as Marx and married Kirk Douglas, how did she get the name Buydens? This must be made clear.--183.182.119.49 (talk) 14:37, 16 July 2020 (UTC)Reply

Change article name to Anne Douglas

edit

Shouldn't the article be renamed to Anne Douglas with a redirect from Anne Buydens? It seems like she was more known as Douglas then Buyden.DrKilleMoff (talk) 16:04, 30 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

By what standards? To whom? - All other Wikipedias I can read have Buydens. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:47, 30 April 2021 (UTC)Reply
One source has "Mrs. Kirk Douglas (Anne)", I hope that we don't follow that line, giving a woman the full name of her husband, and her given name only in brackets. - It's also practical to have different surnames for the two, otherwise we'd have to say which Douglas every time we mention that name. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:51, 30 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

Almost every article about her death says "Douglas". And to be fair. Buydens was not her given name. She got that name when she married Albert Buydens. Her given name was Marx.DrKilleMoff (talk) 18:33, 30 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

I'm seeing about 88 results in Google News for "Anne Douglas" and 192 for "Anne Buydens". Google searches aren't hard evidence by any stretch, but it looks tight enough that a case would need to be made for "Douglas" as the clear WP:COMMONNAME. I am not opposed if there's good evidence for it. Firefangledfeathers (talk) 18:52, 30 April 2021 (UTC)Reply

The name Marx can be Jewish which was a problem in Germany in the 1930s and during the war in the occupied countries. It is said to be kind of related to Margolies, Margulis and some such like. Names are not a real indicator for Jewish families but some are slightly more common in Jewish families than in others. Jews got family names rather late in history and there were certain patterns; inspectors went around and assigned names. Good ones cost more than not so good ones. German women in those times lost their citizenship when they married a foreigner. She wanted to avoid questioning =re her name so she married that Mr. Buydens. My aunt in Berlin also married a Belgian during the war and lost her German citizenship. 2001:8003:A070:7F00:A11D:4F7F:BA83:6FC9 (talk) 06:22, 16 August 2022 (UTC)Reply
