Merger with TCAS
editThis article should be merged with Traffic Collision Aviodance System (TCAS) since both are same.Joy1963 18:28, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
No. TCAS is a proprietary system mandated on larger aircraft. ACAS is the generic term for such systems, of which there are a substantial number.PrairieOjibway (talk) 04:19, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

ACAS is the generic term for such systems
, but I found many sources that contradict this view and say that TCAS is the only ACAS implementation in existence; I suggest splitting electronic conspicuity systems and ground collision avoidance systems from this article to eliminate confusion. Created a discussion about the former in Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Aviation#Electronic_conspicuity. - Pinging @Joy1963, PrairieOjibway, and PrimalBlueWolf: PaulT2022 (talk) 17:25, 6 September 2022 (UTC)
Airplane database
editCould it be that ACAS is also a flight hours and cycles database? 172.176.243.98 18:00, 13 September 2007 (UTC)
Good Q, but no. It's collision avoidance only.PrairieOjibway (talk) 04:26, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Too Technical
editThe technical jargon should probably be dialed down, something that might be easier with cited sources.
TSO AD
editWhat, exactly, was the "flaw in the TSO" that kept it from being useful? (BTW, vote "no" to merge; ACAS is a completely diff type sys to TCAS.) TREKphiler hit me ♠ 04:25, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

Auto-GCAS
editIm surprised there is no mention of Auto-Ground Collision Avoidance Systems in this article. Is it something that has been removed previously? PrimalBlueWolf (talk) 13:22, 25 August 2020 (UTC)
