What are the acronyms? Notable? Important?
editThis sentence in the article: "Khan is also the second cousin of six-time MLA, former BJP vice president and current Governor of Manipur Najma Heptulla, who is the grand-niece of Abul Kalam Azad.[26]"
What is "MLA"? I have no context as to what it could be, it's not referenced anywhere before this. (MLA might mean something common in Indian English, but it's not my English dialect and again, I have no context as to what "MLA" could be.)
Should "BJP" include a link to what it is? I think it's a political party or movement.
Is this important that his second cousin is a grand-niece of someone famous? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.122.180.75 (talk) 22:00, 17 May 2022 (UTC)
- I've linked the acronyms. IMO the relation is important. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 09:44, 18 May 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for updating so quickly! Learn something new every day; MLA, "Member of Legislative Assembly", never have come across that term for a Member of Parliament! Learning is fun! :) I guess famous extended family kinfolk has different meanings for different people. 97.122.180.75 (talk) 12:39, 18 May 2022 (UTC)

- I just noticed that the MLA part is wrong, instead she was a six-time MP in the upper house Rajya Sabha. I've corrected it accordingly. Thanks for the notification. - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 13:03, 18 May 2022 (UTC)

Changes to opening sentences, 15 April 2024
editSomeone added facts about his media persona as "Mr Perfectionist" and his preferred film roles to the first few sentences. Not sure if this was necessarily the place for that, but the English was imperfect, so I went ahead and cleaned it up a bit. Feel free to revise. Amcguire12 (talk) 14:07, 15 April 2024 (UTC)

'Aamir Khan upcoming movie' 1 time Machine is an unfinished Bollywood science-fiction film that was in production in 1992 and directed by Shekhar Kapur. The film's cast included Aamir Khan, Rekha, Naseeruddin Shah, Raveena Tandon, Gulshan Grover and Vijay Anand. After three-fourths of the film was shot, it was shelved due to financial constraints but it will now be released in 2026.
2 Aamir Khan's upcoming Bollywood film, 'Sitaare Zameen Par', will start shooting from May. Its first part created a lot of buzz at the box office and its second part will also do well
- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. Charliehdb (talk) 13:56, 26 June 2024 (UTC)
When did Aamir Khan’s film career start
edithe 1984 movie ‘Holi’ in which Aamir Khan made his debut appearance was the beginning point of his career in movies. But it was not until 1988 when people’s attention was caught by his character in “Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak” that he became famous. He became an instant celebrity due to this film and was given the Filmfare award for the best debut actor category because of it. Brajmohanvarma51 (talk) 12:27, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

Full name, Legal name or Real name
edit@APPU, Krimuk2.0, Gotitbro, and Ravensfire: It is regarding the recent changes [1] per which the subject's 'legal name' is "Aamir Husain Khan", but the subject himself said that "Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan". So, should we do - Aamir Husain Khan (born Mohammed Aamir Hussain Khan; 14 March 1965)....
- in the lead sentence and relevant changes in the infobox birth_name and othernames parameters per MOS:BIRTHNAME MOS:FULLNAME? - Fylindfotberserk (talk) 17:11, 9 November 2024 (UTC)
- When you have a WP:PRIMARY source and an WP:RS contradicting the same info especially for basic facts such as names, DOB etc., the preference will always be given to the latter. Here we have the subject expicitly telling us what the case is.
- While company filings are indicative of WP:LEGALNAMEs, they are not always accurate (sometimes they have been entirely faked). Though this might not be the case here, the point is to not solely rely on them solely when you have better sources available. Also note, that Muhammad is a very common first name and many people might choose to forego it in certain documents (e.g. company filings)/in public though it might still perfectly be retained as a legal name in other docs (passport etc). The best documents for legal names are those for citizenship (see for e.g. Akshay Kumar) though they are obviously not available in most cases. This is not to say that company filings are entirely non-reliant, I have myself used them numerous times hereon enwiki, but if other RS/the subject themselves contradict them, they should indeed be foregone.
