- ^ Prior to the separation of the Moreton Bay district of New South Wales into the independent colony of Queensland, the Supreme Court of New South Wales was the superior court in the District. A judge was resident at Moreton Bay from 1856 and a local division of the court, named the Supreme Court at Moreton Bay, was established in 1857,[10] and existed until the Supreme Court of Queensland was created in 1861.
