João Marinho Neto (born 5 October 1912) is a Brazilian supercentenarian who, at the age of 112 years, 53 days,[1] [2] has been the world's oldest verified living man since the death of John Tinniswood of the United Kingdom on 25 November 2024.[3][4][5]

Biography
editJoão Marinho Neto was born in Maranguape, Ceará, on 5 October 1912 to a farming family. While in his infancy, he moved to Apuiarés with his whole family. During his four years there, he liked to help his father and his employees in labor. In addition to taking care of cattle, he also grew tree fruits like Juazeiro, inventing a hook improvised with a branch to protect the fruits. He weathered through difficulties on various occasions like severe droughts that hit the area throughout a decade.[citation needed]
Marinho Neto was married to Josefa Albano dos Santos (1920-1994), with whom he had four children: Antônio, José, Fátima, and Vanda (deceased).[citation needed]
His spouse inherited a land in Fazenda Massapê, where he cultivated the ground to grow corns and beans. He also raised cattle, goats, pigs and chickens. Later, he fathered three more sons, Vinícius, Jarbas and Conceiçao, from Antonia Rodrigues Moura. Throughout much of his life, Marinho Neto established a financially stable life, accumulating a fortune like lands and houses[citation needed]
As of November 2024, Marinho Neto resides in the city of Apuiarés. His descendants include his living children, 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.[citation needed]
