Sobre la ilustración se aclara en el texto: "Tomado de un cuadro que existe en poder de la señora doña Javiera de Carrera que representa a Telémaco contando su naufragio a Calipso.-La figura del joven Telémaco ha sido considerada siempre por aquella señora como un conjunto notable de semenjanza con la de su hermano Luis, pero aunque en disfavor de este, se han introducido algunos cambios que consultan la verdad histórica, i se ha mantenido la posición reclinada que tiene Telémaco".
