He isa native from Arochukwu Abia State.[1] He is a Nigerian actor and model.[2][3] He was first runner up at the 2010 Mr Nigeria contest. He won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role award at the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards for his role in the Weekend Getaway.[4][5][6]
Personal life
editEkubo is a native of Arochukwu, Abia State in the south-eastern region of Nigeria. He attended the Federal Government College Daura, Katsina State in the northern region of Nigeria. He studied law at the University of Calabar, Cross Rivers State, Nigeria, and later got a diploma in law from Calabar Polytechnic.[7][8][9]
On 10 May 2021, Alex Ekubo and his fiancee Fancy Acholonu announced their wedding dates on Instagram. Their traditional wedding was supposed to be held on Saturday 20 November in Imo State, while the white wedding was to be held on the Saturday that followed, 27 November, in Lagos State.[10] In August 2021, Alex's fiancée called off their engagement with Fancy Acholonu releasing a statement that their relationship has ended.[11] He bought his own luxury house recently.[12]
Career
editEkubo's film debut was a minor role in Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen's Sinners in the House (2005); his first major role was in Ladies Men several years later.[13] He is well known as Johnny after appearing in Yemi Alade's song JOHNNY. He is also known for his roles in other movies as well as television shows. [14]
